From Mar Recruitment, we are currently seeking a highly qualified Commissioning Process Superintendent for one of our key clients in the Oil & Gas sector, for a long-term international project. Project: Neptune Deep Location: Initially based in Fano, Italy; relocation to Romania during execution phase Start Date: June 2025 Duration: Until December 2026 Position Overview The Commissioning Process Superintendent will be responsible for supervising the safe, efficient, and correct commissioning, start-up, and operation of the production plant and associated process systems. This includes oversight of gas compression systems, machinery, equipment, Central Control Room (CCR), and process instrumentation. Key Responsibilities Commissioning & Start-up Phase Lead and supervise pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities according to approved procedures. Ensure proper mechanical, electrical, and process isolation control is maintained throughout the project. Evaluate plant performance during commissioning and coordinate with technical teams to optimize processes. Coordinate with licensors and vendors on-site within the process area. Monitor progress, issue status reports, and ensure system handover documentation is signed off by authorized personnel. QHSE & Compliance Enforce compliance with QHSE standards and company policies at all times. Participate in HAZOP and Pre-Start-Up Safety Reviews (PSSR). Support the preparation and implementation of project-specific HSE plans and emergency response procedures. Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety non-conformities within the area of responsibility. Operational Readiness & Training Lead the training and competence assessment of production staff, preparing them for safe and effective operations. Develop and maintain shift schedules and operational procedures. Assist in the preparation and review of the Production Operating Manual. Liaise closely with the Maintenance Department for proper data entry in the Planned Maintenance Database (PMS). Process Management & Technical Leadership Manage day-to-day operations of the production systems, ensuring adherence to best practices and process safety standards. Direct laboratory testing activities and supervise laboratory technicians. Plan and forecast operational needs such as spare parts, chemicals, and consumables in coordination with Superintendents. Interface with the Client to ensure safe, reliable, and optimized production performance. Ideal Candidate Profile Proven experience in commissioning and operations within Oil & Gas or large-scale energy projects. Strong technical knowledge of process systems, instrumentation, and operational procedures. Solid understanding of QHSE systems, risk assessments, and emergency protocols. Leadership capabilities to manage multidisciplinary teams in an international and multicultural environment. Fluent in English; knowledge of Italian or Romanian is a plus.
