University Hospitals is offering a $500 sign-on bonus, minus applicable taxes, for part-time cooks hired externally.
A Brief Overview
As a Cook in a hospital setting, this position is responsible for both cold and hot food preparation. Responsibilities include ensuring quality inspection, preparation, storage, and timely distribution of food, prioritizing safety and adherence to hospital and departmental policies. The role requires delivering high-quality service, following recipes, operating kitchen equipment efficiently, accommodating special dietary needs, and maintaining a clean and sanitary work area, all while adhering to proper food safety procedures.
What You Will Do
* Prepare cold and hot foods as a line cook.
* Inspect, prepare, store, and distribute food safely and promptly.
* Provide excellent service to internal and external customers.
* Follow recipes and product directions for preparing various foods.
* Operate kitchen equipment to measure, mix, wash, peel, cut, and shred ingredients, and trim and prepare meats, poultry, or fish.
* Taste products, read menus, estimate food requirements, and keep records to plan production and requisition supplies.
* Prepare meals for customers with special dietary needs.
* Use department equipment safely and efficiently.
* Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment, including mopping, sweeping, and dishwashing.
* Follow hospital and departmental policies, including food safety procedures.
Additional Responsibilities
* Perform other duties as assigned.
* Comply with all policies and standards.
* Refer to departmental documentation during orientation for specific duties.
* Safeguard Protected Health Information (PHI) and complete annual training, in accordance with UH policies and the UH Code of Conduct.
