The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for a self-directed and passionate Senior Software Engineer to join our global engineering team. In this role, you will contribute to the engineering of storage features for containers and virtual machines contributing to industry leading technologies such as Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift, KubeVirt, Libvirt, and Qemu. You'll play a specific part in enhancing our offering, through upstream development, to delivery.
What you will do:
1. Play an active role in container and virtualization-related projects and communities like Red Hat OpenShift and KubeVirt.
2. Create and guide new feature development; contribute to open source projects in Golang and Python.
3. Coordinate with team leads, architects, and other engineers on the design and architecture of our work.
4. Take responsibility for the quality of our offerings, participate in peer code reviews and continuous integration (CI), and respond to security threats.
5. Work with Red Hat's Global Customer Support team and partner support teams on resolving customer issues.
6. Partner with Quality Engineering (QE) peers to ensure that projects are tested correctly.
7. Publicize the team's work through blogs, web postings, or conference talks.
What you will bring:
8. Experience working in a Linux environment, GitHub with at least one language like Golang, Python or C/C++
9. Experience with a container ecosystem like Docker, Kubernetes, or Red Hat OpenShift.
10. Experience with microservices architectures and concepts including scale, APIs, versioning, monitoring, etc.
11. Experience with storage systems and protocols (NAS, SAN, NFS, iSCSI, RBD, etc)
12. Familiarity with storage APIs (snapshot, clone, provision, attach), Data Protection and Disaster Recovery
13. Knowledge of Virtualization technologies such as KVM or VMware
14. Ability to examine various technological areas deeply and deliver solutions
15. Debugging skills
16. Proficient written and verbal communication skills in English

17. Experience with cloud development
18. Experience with software defined storage systems such as Ceph and Gluster
19. Experience with open source development
