Mission Key Accountabilities - 1. Professional Specialist: - Keeps abreast of new developments and recommends changes to surveying processes and safety programs. 2. Inspection and Reporting: - Conducts routine surveys on classed ships, offshore installations, or marine assets to ensure compliance with classification and statutory requirements. - Prepares technically accurate and timely reports of inspections and surveys. 3. Leadership and Coordination: - Plans, schedules, and coordinates various phases of surveying work. - Monitors the quality of service, providing guidance to less experienced surveyors. 4. Client Interaction: - Engages with clients to solve problems within the area of expertise. - Ensures client satisfaction through effective communication and resolution of issues. 5. Training and Development: - Provides guidance, and training to less experienced surveyors. - Contributes to the development and improvement of the skills and knowledge of the surveying team. 6. Quality Assurance: 7. Ensures the maintenance of quality, content, consistency, and continuity of work performed. 8. Ethical Conduct: - Uphold the highest ethical standards in all professional interactions, ensuring integrity, transparency, and fairness in survey processes. Qualifications - In general, minimum 2 years’ experience working as a Surveyor or minimum 3 years’ experience in the engineering or inspection/survey fields with an IACS member Classification Society. - Understanding of RINA strategic technical positioning in the sector of the marine industry - Proficiency in the English language commensurate with the scope of classification, statutory certification, related services and, before assignment, with their future work. - Ability to develop a working knowledge of RINA Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, and related instructions, as well as the RINA Employee Safety Policy. - Ability to understand engineering plans and have knowledge of shipbuilding practices and ship operations. - Ability, in general, to perform either, 1) new building surveys: - to assess the suitability of certified materials and products supplied for the new building, - to assess that hull, machinery and equipment have been built in compliance with rules and regulations by means of compulsory inspections, tests and trials, - to issue Certificates, Reports, Records and Status in compliance with rules and regulations. And/or: 2) ship in service surveys: - to assess that hull, machinery and equipment have been maintained in compliance with rules and regulations by means of compulsory overall inspections, tests and trials, - to assess and follow-up the repair works to hull, machinery and equipment to assign a new period of class and a new period of validity to statutory Certificates in compliance with rules and regulations by means of overall and close-up inspections, verification upon dismantling, tests and trials (including surveys for Admission to Class of ships in service), - to attend major conversion works according with rules and regulations, - to identify the deficiencies to be rectified (if any) and assess whether immediate repair is necessary or a condition may be issued with an appropriate due date, - to follow-up as required by rules and regulations any repair work or due to previous outstanding conditions, - to assess whether the deficiencies identified (if any) may be linked with potential failure of the Ship Management System, - to endorse Certificates, issue Reports and Status in compliance with rules and regulations. And/or: - Marine Management Systems audits And/or: 1) testing activities and service suppliers/manufacturers certification: - to assess the suitability of certified materials and products in compliance with applicable rules - to issue Certificates and prepare Reports and Status in compliance with procedures. - Knowledge of ship engineering systems and machinery. - Knowledge of computer programs or software packages related to job responsibilities. - Knowledge of related technical interfaces required for group project work.
