Progress Rail Signaling Spa is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Specific Application Designer. The position is based in Italy and is open to our offices in Pistoia, Roma, Genova, and Bologna. Our Computer Based Interlocking system is scalable and flexible, managing hundreds of miles of railway from a central control room. Job Purpose Define, produce, and verify all application data and parameters needed to customize each solution at system or subsystem level (e.g., IXL, SCMT Wayside, ETCS Wayside, etc.), including delivering engineering drawings for the execution design of the specific application. Job Duties (Responsibilities and Accountabilities) Define, produce, and verify application data and parameters for customer solutions at system or subsystem level. Produce typical engineering drawings for preliminary and execution design, depending on the system/subsystem level: For IXL (Interlocking), produce: Track insulation and bonding plans; details of rail polarity and cable arrangements/insulated joints of the track circuit. Principles of cable layout in stations and between stations. Support the PE in Bill of Materials (BOM) preparation, including equipment codification requests (Part Number) and quantities. Manage project documents to carry out application engineering studies throughout the project lifecycle. Understand ECM rules, processes, methods, and tools (e.g., HMR9 development suite). Apply and ensure adherence to processes and standards, especially for SIL 4 subsystems. Maintain independence between principles definition and validation activities (two independent engineers). Contribute to continuous improvement (ROE, processes, tools). Manage work products under configuration management. Experience and Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (preferred electronic, electric, computer science, telecommunication) or equivalent technical studies/experience. IT skills: MS Office, AutoCAD, MS Project, Windows OS. Good knowledge of engineering design methods and tools. Italian mother tongue or equivalent. English proficiency: B2 or equivalent.
