Join AWS as a Cloud Hardware Development Engineer to support the development of next‐generation cloud infrastructure hardware. Drive innovation in complex PCBA designs utilizing state‐of‐the‐art FPGA SoCs, working with world‐class engineers in our dedicated product development lab.
This position requires that the candidate selected be a U.S. Citizen and currently maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance. After start, the selected candidate must obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph or a commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.
Key job responsibilities
- Development of complex PCB designs incorporating FPGA SoCs
- Support system‐level hardware architecture decisions and technical requirements
- Support new product introduction (NPI) processes with contract manufacturers
- Develop and validate high‐speed digital and mixed‐signal circuits
- Ensure designs meet EMI/EMC compliance, thermal, and signal integrity requirements
- Partner with FPGA/firmware teams to define hardware interfaces and requirements
- Participate in design reviews and drive technical consensus across multiple teams
A day in the life
You'll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of hardware, software, and FPGA engineers in our dedicated product development lab. Your responsibilities will span supporting innovative hardware solutions, conducting PCB design reviews, troubleshooting prototypes, and providing technical influence to team members. You'll establish strong partnerships with product managers to define technical requirements, collaborate with FPGA engineers to refine hardware interfaces, and work alongside manufacturing teams to ensure successful production scaling.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- 2+ years of computer hardware experience, including troubleshooting and repairing experience
- Experience in motherboard design, PCB design including schematic capture, stack‐up and circuit board layout
- Experience with FPGA SoC hardware integration, hardware validation and debugging
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Experience in high‐volume manufacturing environments
- Current, active U.S. Government Security Clearance of Top Secret with SCI eligibility or above
Salary: $109,700 – $160,000 annually.
