The software engineer will contribute to the design, implementation, and delivery of a high performing, secure and critical mission supporting system.
Responsibilities
Participate in all phases of the development lifecycle
Prepare and produce software component releases
Support continuous improvement of code design and development processes
Support Agile planning activities
Support requirements analysis and traceability
Required Education, Certifications and Security Clearance
BS degree in Engineering or Computer Science (experience may be accepted in place of a degree)
DoD Secret
Required Qualifications
At least 8 years’ experience supporting large scale and complex systems in a distributed environment using various programming languages (including Java) and virtualized platforms
Experience working in an Agile software development environment
At least three years’ experience in Java development
Some familiarity with DevOps (CI/CD) pipeline concepts and tools
Some familiarity with Cloud technology (e.g., AWS, Google)
Some familiarity with Docker Containers
Ability to support and troubleshoot issues on common Operating Systems (e.g., Windows, Linux, yum/brew)
Great interpersonal and communications skills, while establishing and maintaining effective work relationships with team members
Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, flexible environment, and take the initiative to learn new tools and concepts quickly.
Excellent communication skills, in both spoken and written English
Desired Qualifications
DoD 8570.01 IAT or IAM Level II certification
Experience in working with cloud technologies, including Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure
Familiarity with the concept, implementation, and operations associated with DevOps in a hybrid IT organization.
Experience developing in and deploying to a Linux environment
Experience with Government standards and procedures.
Experience migrating legacy applications to modern frameworks
Experience with Elastic Map Reduce, Solr, Accumulo & Groovy
Familiarity with Accumulo, Hadoop, HDFS, Solr
