We are seeking a Communication System Engineer.
Task description:
1. Support the design phases by defining the functional and performance requirements of uW Instruments and communication subsystems through analysis and assessment, focusing on uW Instruments (P/L) and Communication Systems (e.g., Radiometers, P/L data Handling and Transmission systems, Radar systems).
2. Develop and maintain models and software tools for simulating Payload and Subsystem functionalities and performances.
3. Define, implement, and maintain RF budgets.
4. Establish command and control interface definitions.
5. Define, implement, and maintain Link Budgets as applicable.
6. Contribute to the definition of Payload or Subsystem architecture.
7. Define, implement, and maintain related Interfaces and budgets (Data Handling, Electrical, RF).
8. Support technical monitoring of equipment and sub-assemblies with internal and external suppliers, including review attendance.
9. During verification and validation phases, assess Payload and Subsystem functionalities and performance based on test results.
10. Support the relevant Assembly, Integration, and Testing (AIT) campaigns as a System and Verification Engineer.
11. Participate in meetings and reviews with internal and external customers.
12. Prepare documentation and presentations.
13. Contribute to program reports and minutes of meetings.
14. This activity is conducted under Italian Defense National Authority Rules; the candidate must be eligible for the relevant security clearance.
Required Background:
1. Master’s degree in Electronic or Telecommunication Engineering.
2. Experience in communication systems, especially for space applications.
3. Knowledge of digital and RF electronics for data handling, processing, and wideband communication, TT&C.
4. Familiarity with main onboard data interface buses: MIL 1553 B, CAN, SpaceWire, High-Speed Serial Links (WizardLink).
5. Understanding of radio communication protocols, information theory, advanced coding/modulation techniques (e.g., Turbo coding, SCCC, DVB-S2), and related modeling/simulation skills.
6. Experience in modeling/simulation of HPA non-linearity, atmospheric propagation effects, and relevant compensation algorithms in DSP domain for high-order modulation schemes.
7. Proficiency in Matlab and programming languages such as C or Visual Basic.
8. Proficiency in MS Office.
9. Good command of English for written and verbal communication.
10. This activity requires eligibility for security clearance under Italian Defense National Authority Rules.
