Ph3Position /h3 pRoustabout /p h3Reports To /h3 pForeman /p h3Summary /h3 pAssembles rigging to lift and move equipment or material in manufacturing plant, shipyard, or on construction project by performing the following duties. /p h3Essential Qualifications, Duties, and Responsibilities /h3 ul liWorks with craft personnel and assists in removing scale, sand, paint, grease, tar, rust and dirt from equipment. /li liUtilizes shovels and other hand equipment to move products from one place to another as directed. /li liUtilizes mops and brooms to clean work areas free of clutter and in an environmentally friendly manner. /li liInspects tools for safe usage prior to delivering and/or removing tools from work locations. /li liInspects and selects cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves according to weight and size of load to be moved. /li liAttaches pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures such as beams, ceilings, and gin‑pole booms with bolts and clamps. /li liEnsures a proper inventory of equipment is readily available in trucks, trailers or other storage areas. /li liControls movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings or confined spaces by using tag lines. /li liSignals or verbally directs workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety of workers, equipment, and materials. /li liAttaches load with grappling devices such as loops, wires, ropes, and chains to the crane hook. /li liSets up, braces, and rigs hoisting equipment. /li liAssists in the loading, unloading and securing of loads for transportation. /li liDismantles and stores rigging equipment out of environmental elements after each use. /li /ul h3Physical Demands /h3 pThe employee must regularly lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee regularly uses hands to finger, handle, or feel; reaches with hands and arms; talks or hears.
