ABOUT OUR DISTRICT\n\nThe Syracuse City School District is undergoing a new phase of innovation and\ntransformation with the goal of ensuring that all students graduate high school\nwith the skills needed to be ready for college and career. The teacher must effectively: \n\n * Plan data-driven, standards-aligned and differentiated units, lessons and\n activities; \n\n * Deliver clear, accurate and rigorous lessons with a range of instructional\n and formative assessment techniques;\n\n * Establish and maintain a supportive, productive and positive learning\n environment with strong classroom management practices; and \n\n * Monitor and communicate about student progress while engaging in continuous\n reflection, adjustment and professional development.\n\n * The teacher will perform additional related duties as required.\n\nFor further details on our expectations for classroom educators, explore the\nDanielson Framework for Teaching. \n\nQUALIFICATIONS:\n\n * Proven experience accelerating measurable student learning in urban schools\n (preferred)\n\n * Training and or experience with Culturally Relevant Education (preferred)\n\n * Minimum of two years’ successful classroom teaching experience (preferred)\n\n * Prior demonstration of exemplary attendance is expected of any candidate for\n hire.\n\n * All candidates must possess New York State teacher certification in their\n subject area, or qualify to obtain it by the first date of employment. This\n requires at least a Bachelor’s degree. Licensed teachers from other states\n may qualify for reciprocity\n [http://www.highered.nysed.gov/tcert/certificate/teachrecother.html].\n\n * Please note that New York State requires a minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.5\n for certification, and one hired, this proof will be kept on file in the\n Office of Human Resources. \n\n * Once offered, you will be required to declare that all previous obligations\n with an employing school district have been met and you are not seeking this\n position with the intent of resigning from a previous commitment in which you\n have not served. \n\n * The successful candidate will be required to pass a fingerprint-based\n background check, at the cost of $101.25 to the candidate.\n\n * City Residents are encouraged to apply!\n\nSALARY/SALARY RANGE:\n\n * Compensation is in accordance with the Unit 1 contractual agreement and\n ranges from $59,499 to $102,037, based on experience and qualifications.\n\n * Teachers may also have the opportunity to participate in our Summer School\n Programs, which are compensated at an hourly rate of $45.00.\n\n * Teachers of color or those with experience and a deep background in Urban\n Education may qualify for the District's Urban Fellowship Program. \n\n
