Job Description:
For our Engineering area, we are seeking a candidate to join a thesis-oriented internship project. The activity will be focused on the development and optimization of Air Vehicle systems during the early design phases, with particular emphasis on Flight Stability and Flight Control Laws.
Mission:
Development of Air Vehicle Systems by considering architectural principles, properties, and characteristics, with a specific focus on Flight Control.
Activities:
The selected candidate will contribute to the definition and development of:
- Architectural principles
- System concepts
- Vehicle properties
- Mathematical and simulation models
- Air Vehicle characteristics
with particular attention to Flight Stability and Flight Control Laws.
The activities will also include:
- Performing quantitative assessments of system performance and handling qualities
- Applying optimization algorithms to tiltrotor architectures
- Leveraging dedicated methodologies and tools
- Progressive integration of system elements (hardware, software, and operational resources)
The work will be carried out using commercial MATLAB/Python tools and internal Leonardo codes.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree student (in progress) in Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
- Basic knowledge of flight mechanics, aeromechanics, and flight control systems
- Familiarity with MATLAB and/or Python
- Interest in aircraft system architecture and optimization techniques
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
