Research Associate in Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering Based within the UNSW School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, this role is part of an interdisciplinary team working on the Australian Composite Manufacturing Cooperative Research Centre (ACM CRC) project: Advanced Manufacturing of MOF-Enabled Carbon Composite H2 Tanks for Heavy Mobility.
The project advances technology for hydrogen storage materials and lightweight composite storage vessels in partnership with local (Rux Energy) and international (National Composites Centre, UK) stakeholders.
Role and Responsibilities
Contribute to the development of full-system models of MOF-enabled hydrogen storage tanks under cryo-compressed conditions.
Progress R&D; on large-format composite and metallic hydrogen storage tanks, including impact damage prediction and permeability characterisation.
Work with end users and certification bodies to advance the technology readiness level (TRL) and certification pathways for novel hydrogen tanks.
Qualifications and Experience
PhD (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Aerospace, Materials, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
Proven commitment to staying current with discipline knowledge and developments.
Demonstrated ability to conduct high-quality, independent academic research with limited supervision.
Track record of publications and conference presentations relevant to the opportunity.
Strong teamwork and collaboration skills across disciplines; ability to build effective relationships.
Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills; experience interacting with diverse stakeholders and students.
Understanding of and commitment to UNSW's aims, objectives and values, and knowledge of relevant policies and guidelines.
Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant training.
Must hold valid working rights in Australia; visa sponsorship not available.
Employment Details
Full-time, fixed-term contract to September ****.
Salary: $91,381 – $121,838 per annum + 17% superannuation.
Location: Kensington – Sydney, Australia.
