Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Corrosion Engineer to lead the assessment, monitoring, and continuous improvement of corrosion protection strategies across our industrial operations. The ideal candidate brings deep technical knowledge, hands-on field experience, and a proactive approach to risk management in oil & gas or petrochemical environments. This role plays a critical part in safeguarding asset integrity and ensuring compliance with inspection and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Collaborate with the laboratory to track chemical injection and analyze sampling results.
* Plan and follow up on corrosion monitoring campaigns (probes, cathodic protection, coupon retrieval).
* Review RBI study results and align inspection plans with findings.
* Use process monitoring tools (e.g., PDMS/PI) to assess operating parameters and define Integrity Operating Windows.
* Oversee contractors conducting corrosion monitoring activities.
* Recommend improvements to enhance corrosion control systems and asset integrity.
* Flag recurring issues related to spare part availability or system reliability.
* Ensure any software updates for control systems meet functional requirements.
* Maintain up-to-date documentation on corrosion protection systems.
* Prepare weekly and monthly reports on system performance, including chemical injection efficiency.
Qualifications
* Laurea Magistrale and/or Specialistica (as well Chartered Engineer, A-levels + 5 years’ study) or Laurea Triennale (as well Higher National Diploma HND or Certificate HNC, A-levels + 3 years’ study, BTS/DUT or equivalent) in metallurgy and/or corrosion
* Minimum 8 years’ experience in corrosion engineering, including at least 3 years in the petrochemical or oil & gas industry.
* Strong understanding of corrosion mechanisms and threats in upstream oil & gas environments.
* Familiarity with equipment and processes used in oil and gas treatment.
* Professional knowledge of RBI methodologies (API 580/581) and damage mechanisms (API RP 571).
* Expertise in cathodic protection, coatings, chemical mitigation, and corrosion monitoring techniques.
* Proficient in the use of corrosion probes, coupons, and related software tools.
* Experience using CMMS (e.g., SAP) and RBI systems.
* Able to work both independently and within multidisciplinary, multicultural teams.
* Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
* Fluent in Italian and English (written and spoken).
* Physically capable of working in site-specific environmental conditions.
