Join the Company Modeling team as an engineer and help advance virtual tyre design, especially in structural Tyre Modeling. We are looking for a motivated professional to support our FEA Modelling & Research team
YOUR CORE ACTIVITIES
You will collaborate with your tutor in:
· developing or improving modeling techniques to predict force and moments (F&M) transmitted to the vechicle using finite element methods or simplified approaches
· understanding how tyre construction affects performances of standalone tyre, and their impact of vehicle in handling manouvers (soft and hard)
· contribute to the development of simulation and analysis tools i.e.
o define modelling guidelines for accuracy improvements
o define virtual methodologies and validate them vs experimental ones
o critical analysis of results of both simulations and experimental tests and their correlation
o improve automation and industrialization of simulations guaranteeing efficient use of HW and SW resources
· harmonize simulation tools and methodology within the Pirelli worldwide technical centers
· daily team working with other Pirelli departments (testing, materials, processes….).
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
· A master's degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical, or Civil Engineering is preferred
· Basic knowledge of software required for the definition of a FEM model; Experience in programming languages such as MATLAB or Python for automation of pre- and post-processing. xjrgpwk
· Academic background or interest in the following areas (in order of priority) would be a plus: o tire modeling, including physical and semi-physical models o contact mechanics, tribology, and viscoelastic materials o thermal analysis o fundamentals of optimization and statistics
· Team working attitude;
· Strong problem solving skills and critical analysis;
· Fluency in Italian and English
