Responsibilities
Executing day ‑ to ‑ day First Level support of CMRE Communication and Information Systems (CIS) ashore and at sea. Installing or removing hardware and/or software, and associated connections, using supplied installation instructions and tools. Conducting tests and correcting malfunctions. Documenting results in accordance with agreed procedures. Assisting with the evaluation of change requests. Contributing to investigations of problems and faults concerning the installation of hardware and/or software and confirming the correct working of installations. Applying tools, techniques, and processes to administer, track, log, report on, and correct configuration items, components, and changes. Assisting with audits to check the accuracy of information and undertaking any necessary corrective action under direction. Providing 1st line system administration support at the Centre and to deployed installations (e.g., Centre Research Vessels), in coordination with system and network administrators. Assisting in user ‑ facing incident resolution and performing system maintenance under the supervision of 2nd line support. Proactively monitoring the assigned systems and alerting relevant second line support in case of performance degradation or downtime. Generating availability reports and statistics to ensure full service ‑ provisioning visibility. Advising management on corrective or procurement actions required to resolve detected weaknesses in system performance. Remaining up ‑ to ‑ date with IT technologies and trends from an end ‑ user perspective to enable state ‑ of ‑ the ‑ art support to a scientific workforce. Performing other related duties as required.
