Research Technologist in Digital Pathology
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced research technologist to join our team in the field of digital pathology.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing cases to be examined, ensuring the correct acquisition of clinical documentation, histological preparations, and informed consent from patients. They will also carry out biomarker expression investigations on human tissues using immunohistochemistry/immunofluorescence and in situ nucleic acid hybridization techniques.
* Manage cases to be examined, including the acquisition of clinical documentation, histological preparations, and informed consent from patients.
* Carry out biomarker expression investigations on human tissues using immunohistochemistry/immunofluorescence and in situ nucleic acid hybridization techniques.
* Ensure the scanning of histological preparations and the correct archiving of slides and files of the related scans.
* Collect and tabulate data of the original diagnosis and that provided by artificial intelligence algorithms.
* Collaborate with pathologists in the analysis of histological cases and in the management of cases to be subjected to external control.
* Collaborate with researchers dedicated to developing artificial intelligence algorithms.
* Carry out preliminary analysis of the collected data.
* Contribute to the drafting of work reports, project progress, and scientific works.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology, Biological Sciences, or a related field.
* Master's degree in Biology, Medicine and Surgery, Medical Biotechnology, or a related field.
* At least 3 years post-master experience in relevant fields.
* Basic knowledge of the processes of sampling and processing of human tissues for diagnostic purposes in digital pathology.
* Knowledge of histological stains and immunohistochemical investigations, both from a technical and interpretative point of view.
* General knowledge of digital pathology: scanning histological specimens, image management, use of image archiving systems, use of artificial intelligence programs.
* Computer and digital skills (ability to operate a personal computer with common applications and essential knowledge of information technology at the general user level).
* Competence in bibliographic investigations using the main search engines (e.g., Pubmed).
* Excellent knowledge of the English language.
* Experience in working for research projects.
* Teamwork approach, good communication, and relational skills.
* Time management, planning, and development skills.
* Accuracy, flexibility, proactivity, and goal orientation.
