Data Center Manager, Data Center Operations

Key Job Responsibilities
About You:
You will be a proven manager with experience managing high-performing technical teams. You will be able to refine and develop processes to optimize operational excellence across all areas of your role. You will drive performance levels to achieve the pace at which we build and operate Data Centers in India for Amazon Data Services India Private Limited (“ADSIPL”). You will have previous experience in Data Centers, either building or managing along with exposure to developing great relationships with both internal teams and external vendors. You will also have a passion for technology.
About The Role
As a Data Center Manager in ADSIPL, you will manage the world’s largest Cloud Computing Infrastructure in India. You will innovate to solve complex problems and drive Operations Excellence.
Your Day Job
* Managing and developing teams of engineers, providing technical and leadership expertise and ensuring highest levels of performance.
* Maintaining existing co-located and in-house Data Centers.
* Helping build and bring online new Data Centers.
* Constantly improving all processes and procedures.
* Assisting & managing relationships with external vendors & contractors.
* Liaising with internal teams & management groups.
* Ensuring adherence to and exceed local Health & Safety standards.
* Creating and maintaining metrics on all aspects of our Data Centers and utilizing those metrics to drive positive changes.
* Assisting in implementing service methodologies including incident management, problem management, change management, capacity management, etc.
What We’re Looking For
People Management
As a successful candidate you will have managed a team of at least 5 individuals for a period of at least 3 years. You will have continued to improve performance of an existing team and displayed skills in creating or growing a team. Experience managing high & low performing employees will be an advantage along with conflict management.
Incident Management
You will have experience dealing with high severity situations, a clear understanding of the broader blast implications of any issue/outage and potential consequences of differing outcome scenarios. You will also have experience in Change Management & Fault Management.
Vendor Management
Experience dealing with external vendors, contractors & security companies, and having ability to display incidents of both problem & conflict management when dealing with same.
Process Improvement
Ability to take a good working process & improve it. Experience in process mapping, implementing remediation steps and seeing the overall business impact. Experience in Kaizen/Lean/Six Sigma is preferable.
Health & Safety
Should be at the forefront of every manager’s mind. Managers should positively influence Safety culture of the Data Center organization.
Basic Qualifications
* 5+ years of managing technical teams with significant personnel management experience and examples of developing engineers and building successful teams.
* Experience in major facilities incident management.
* Experience implementing process improvements.
* Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, effective communication abilities.
* 7+ years of relevant experience in DC Operations, IT Operations or similar roles.
Preferred Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree or above in engineering or equivalent STEM field, or 3+ months of network and operating system support experience.
* Experience in project management.
* 2+ years of Agile methods and processes experience.
* Experience in capacity planning, operations planning, business analysis or similar.
* Knowledge of Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma concepts.
* Experience implementing change management successfully transitioning programs into large-scale operations.
