Ph3ABOUT THE ROLE – Umbilical Fiber Optic Engineer (Oil Gas / Offshore Projects) /h3 pWe are looking for an Umbilical Fiber Optic Engineer to join a leading international PMC organization on a major offshore Oil Gas development project. /p pReporting to the Sealine SPS Work Package Project Manager, the resource will be responsible for the technical oversight and engineering assurance of subsea umbilical systems and fiber optic infrastructure — from design review and vendor management through fabrication, offshore installation, and commissioning. /p pLocation: Milan (office-based, 5 days/week). /p h3Key Responsibilities /h3 ol libEngineering Design Assurance /b: Review and approve EPC contractor deliverables: technical specifications, datasheets, installation drawings, and test procedures for umbilical and fiber optic systems. Ensure compliance with applicable international standards (API 17E, ISO 13628-5, DNV-ST-F101, IEEE 1718). Coordinate technical interfaces between umbilical/fiber systems and subsea control systems (SCM, MCS, HPU) and topside facilities (DCS/SCADA). Participate in design reviews, HAZID, HAZOP, and constructability reviews. /li libProcurement Vendor Management /b: Support preparation of Material Requisitions and Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE) for umbilical packages and fiber optic systems. Attend and review FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) and SIT (System Integration Test) activities at vendor facilities. Monitor vendor performance and ensure timely resolution of technical queries. /li libFabrication Installation Oversight /b: Supervise fabrication, spooling, and testing of umbilicals and fiber optic cables. Coordinate with offshore installation teams for load‑out, lay operations, pull‑in, and tie‑in activities. Interface with ROV teams, DP vessels, and marine contractors during offshore campaigns. /li libCommissioning Testing /b: Supervise post‑installation commissioning and integrity testing: hydrostatic tests, OTDR testing for fiber optic systems, and electrical continuity tests. Ensure system readiness for handover to operations, including punch list clearance and as‑built documentation. /li libReporting Documentation /b: Prepare weekly and monthly technical progress reports for management and client. Manage NCRs, punch lists, and final documentation packages. Ensure full traceability of technical documentation throughout the project lifecycle. /li /ol h3Project Scope Interfaces /h3 pKey activities: Umbilical fabrication and spooling, FAT/SIT at vendor facilities, offshore installation (pull‑in, tie‑in, ROV operations), post‑installation commissioning, and system handover. /p pChallenges: Coordination between subsea control systems and topside integration, management of offshore installation campaigns, and multi‑vendor interface resolution. /p pInterfaces: EPC contractors, subsea equipment vendors, offshore installation crews, ROV teams, topside IC and DCS teams, marine logistics. /p h3Key Competencies /h3 ul liStrong technical knowledge of subsea umbilical systems and fiber optic infrastructure. /li liAbility to manage multi‑discipline interfaces between subsea, topside, and marine teams. /li liExcellent analytical, communication, and reporting skills. /li liAbility to work under pressure and manage complex offshore execution challenges. /li liProactive mindset in identifying and resolving technical and operational risks. /li /ul h3Requirements /h3 ul liBachelors Degree (BSc) in Electrical, Electronic, Subsea, or Mechanical Engineering. /li liMinimum 10 years of experience in offshore Oil Gas projects with focus on subsea umbilical systems and/or fiber optic infrastructure. /li liStrong knowledge of umbilical design, fabrication, and installation: UTA, connectors, end terminations. /li liKnowledge of subsea fiber optic systems: OTDR testing, splicing, and mechanical protection. /li liFamiliarity with subsea control systems (SCM, MCS, HPU) and their topside integration. /li liExperience with offshore installation operations: ROV, DP vessels, pipelay. /li liKnowledge of standards: API 17E, ISO 13628-5, DNV-ST-F101, IEEE 1718. /li liExcellent spoken and written English. /li liBOSIET/FOET certification — preferred. /li /ul h3Compensation /h3 pThe salary range for this role is between €70,000 and €90,000 gross per year. /p pThe position is governed by the Italian National Collective Labour Agreement (CCNL) for Commerce and Tertiary Services applied by our company. /p pThe final placement within the range will be determined based on technical skills, specific experience, and the outcome of the selection process, according to objective and neutral criteria. /p pFor exceptional profiles exceeding the indicated range, a revision may be considered subject to internal approval. /p h3Equal Opportunities / EEO /h3 pAGAP2 is an equal opportunities employer: we believe that all forms of diversity are a source of mutual enrichment.
