As a Sr. Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE), you will be responsible for building and maintaining a highly scalable, reliable and efficient reporting and analytical system to support the fast‑growing business.
You will collaborate with various business teams to identify reporting/analytical requirements, build required data models, acquire new data sources, and develop comprehensive data visualizations for key stakeholders.
You will mine data, identify data correlations across different functional areas, run statistical analyses, gather insights, and make recommendations based on your findings to help senior leaders make key business decisions.
Data analysis is at the core of Amazon’s culture, and your work will have a direct impact on decision‑making and strategy for organizations.
You will work with analytical tools, write excellent SQL scripts, optimize performance of SQL queries, and partner with internal customers to answer key business questions.

Key job responsibilities
* Develop complex queries for ad hoc requests and projects, as well as ongoing reporting.
* Design, develop and maintain scalable, automated, user‑friendly systems, reports, dashboards, etc. that will support our analytical and business needs.
* Design, implement, and support key datasets that provide structured and timely access to actionable business information addressing stakeholder needs.
* Interface directly with stakeholders, gathering requirements and owning automated end‑to‑end reporting solutions.
* Partner with analysts, data engineers, business intelligence engineers, and software development engineers across Amazon to produce complete data solutions.
* Simplify and automate reporting, audits, and other data‑driven activities; build solutions to have maximum scale and self‑service ability by stakeholders.
* Proficiency with SQL queries to retrieve and analyze data. Learn and understand a broad range of Amazon’s data resources and know how, when, and which to use.
* Surface and track key product metrics that reveal opportunities for innovation and optimization.
* Mentor teammates, provide inputs in team and org‑level strategic planning, lead cross‑org discussions.
Basic Qualifications
* 10+ years of SQL experience.
* Experience programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi‑TB) data sets.
* Experience with theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of results.
* Experience with AWS technologies.
* Experience scripting for automation (e.g., Python) and advanced SQL skills.
* Experience with theory and practice of information retrieval, data science, machine learning, and data mining.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs.
* Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership.
* Master’s degree in statistics, data science, or an equivalent quantitative field.
