Policy Communications Manager, AWS International Corporate Communications

Amazon is seeking a senior strategic communication leader to drive policy communications initiatives across Europe, with a focus on digital policies. Working from our Brussels office (candidates working from Paris or Berlin will also be considered) you will develop and execute comprehensive communications strategies that support Amazon's policy objectives while building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders across the European media and policy landscape.
You will also be responsible for media relations on policy topics, building and maintaining constructive relationships with reporters and editors. You will collaborate with public policy and business teams to devise and implement strategies that protect and enhance Amazon's reputation. You will have a demonstrable ability to understand cultural and political nuances in key European countries.
You will manage complex communications programs where strategy may not be fully defined, requiring you to assess trends, analyse performance, and make recommendations that balance business priorities with the wider macro context. You will serve as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders and demonstrate the ability to navigate complex policy landscapes while delivering impactful communications outcomes.
Key job responsibilities
Develop and execute proactive communications campaigns supporting Amazon's European policy objectives
Lead EU policy comms workstreams related to digital policies, acting as an advisor to AWS leadership
Coordinate with AWS Country Comms Managers to develop country-specific policy communications strategies in line with their distinct dynamics
Create and manage content and assets for delivering integrated communications campaigns, including oversight of agency-produced deliverables
Serve as an Amazon spokesperson for policy-related media inquiries
Willingness to travel and drive international alignment to ensure consistent policy communications across regions
Manage both proactive and reactive communication materials
Build and maintain relationships with policy journalists and media representatives
Work with trade associations, researchers, and think tanks to advance AWS external communications objectives
Assess communication strategies and provide data-driven recommendations for optimisation
Basic Qualifications
Extensive recent professional communications or journalism experience at a senior level
Comprehensive understanding of the EU media and policy landscape
Track record of developing and executing policy communications campaigns
Proven ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships
Experience in developing strategic communications materials for senior stakeholders
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences
Fluency in English
Preferred Qualifications
Additional European language capabilities, particularly French or German
Experience managing communications programs in a multinational environment
Demonstrated ability to influence and align multiple stakeholders
Excellence in strategic thinking and problem-solving
