Prime is Amazon's premiere membership program, with over 200M members world-wide. This role is at the center of major company decisions that impact Amazon's customers across industries including fast-free shipping, digital content, reading, healthcare, and grocery offerings. Prime Science creates insights that power these decisions.ResponsibilitiesCreate statistical tools that embed causal interpretations using massive data, state-of-the-art computing, econometrics (causal, counterfactual/structural, experimentation), and machine learning.Develop internal-to-Amazon-facing automated scientific data products to inform company decisions and power customer value.Produce insights from descriptive statistics and from novel statistical and econometric models.Draft strategic documents explaining how senior leaders should utilize insights to create sustainable value for customers.Collaborate with a team of economists, applied scientists, data professionals, product managers, and software/data engineers.Build, estimate, and defend statistical models (e.g., causal, counterfactual, machine-learning) using software such as R, Python, or STATA; learn and apply additional statistical/computational techniques as needed.Demonstrate strong writing and emotional intelligence skills, growth mindset, and the ability to work with ambiguity; engage in on-the-job growth with potential for large, worldwide impact on Prime member experiences.Basic QualificationsCurrently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD in economics or equivalent.Preferred QualificationsExperience with Python or RCompensation and BenefitsUSA, WA, Seattle - 129,200.00 - 174,700.00 USD annually.
