Software Development Engineer, Automated Profitability Management

The vision of Automated Profitability Management (APM) is to automate and improve Amazon Retail Profitability through the innovative application of Machine Learning and Software Engineering.

Now imagine applying this across tens of thousands of suppliers and tens of millions of products, across tens of different countries worldwide, and at a double-digit growth rate every year. Machines will make the actual decisions to scale beyond what humans can do, using data to solve profitability problems with algorithms, machine learning, and data-driven approaches.

Join us to disrupt how negotiations are done in e-commerce, and help us solve these problems:

* What is the right ask for a negotiation to maximize conversion and entitlement?
* How can I make a negotiation more impactful by including the right incentives and disincentives?
* What incentives/disincentives drive a vendor?
* Which negotiations matter most to the vendor's business?
* Should I negotiate holistically to maximize engagement and conversion?
* How do I build a system that supports negotiations on 100+ terms, while allowing human negotiators to provide inputs?
Key responsibilities
* You have strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills.
* You are a self-starter and motivated to deliver value for customers.
* You apply software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
* You build distributed computing and enterprise-wide systems.
* You collaborate with team to deliver strategic projects.
* You mentor junior software engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective and productive software engineers.
About the team

At Automated Profitability Management (APM), we take pride in being a diverse team, and provide opportunity to demonstrate unique strength that each of us bring to the table. We are a high performing team and give importance to work-life-balance and career growth. We collaborate with several key teams across Retail world (SCOT, EconTech, etc.) on a day-to-day basis. Our customers are retail vendors, vendor managers and retail page customers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
* 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
* 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
* Experience programming with at least one software programming language
* Bachelor's degree
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
* Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
