We are now embarking on a new chapter of our journey that will further boost CMCC’s global position in climate change research…Together! /p h3ROLE /h3 pThe Researcher will be part of the REMHI Division – Regional Models and geo‑Hydrological Impacts, reporting to the Division Director, and will contribute to the design, development and implementation of methods and tools for assessing climate adaptation and resilience strategies in the built environment. In particular, the Researcher will support the development and application of economic evaluation methods and tools applied to climate adaptation and resilience strategies and solutions, with a strong focus on buildings, infrastructures, and public spaces. /p h3RESPONSIBILITIES /h3 ul liEconomic assessment of adaptation and resilience strategies and solutions for the built environment, including cost‑benefit, cost‑effectiveness, and multi‑criteria analyses. /li liDevelopment and application of methodologies to assess the direct and indirect benefits of adaptation solutions—including soft, green, blue, and grey measures—with a particular focus on Nature‑based Solutions (NbS). This includes assessing co‑benefits such as improved public health, energy savings, risk reduction, ecosystem services enhancement, and social inclusion. /li liCollection and processing of socio‑economic and environmental data at urban and regional scales. /li liContribution to research and innovation projects, including writing and managing EU projects and tender proposals. /li liContribution to scientific publications, technical reports, policy briefs, and dissemination activities. /li liParticipation in internal knowledge exchange and interdisciplinary collaboration. /li liStaying up to date with advances in multi‑risk and resilience‑related research, tools, and techniques, and applying cutting‑edge methodologies to climate risk assessment. /li /ul h3REQUIREMENTS /h3 ul liPhD or MSc degree in Economics, Environmental Economics, Climate Change Science and Management, or equivalent subjects. /li liProven experience in economic assessment of climate adaptation, resilience or environmental policies. /li liProficiency or familiarity with a range of tools and methodologies for economic and spatial analysis, modelling, and communication of results. These include: ul liEconomic analysis and modelling /li liGood knowledge of Microsoft Excel for scenario and sensitivity analysis; experience with R and/or Python for data analysis and modelling; familiarity with software like Stata, GAMS, or Matlab is a plus. Experience with scenario‑based or probabilistic economic evaluation under uncertainty is beneficial. /li liEvaluation methods: Application of economic techniques such as Cost‑Benefit Analysis (CBA), Cost‑Effectiveness Analysis (CEA), Multi‑Criteria Analysis (MCA), and ecosystem services evaluation, including monetary and non‑monetary approaches. /li liSpatial data analysis: Use of GIS software (preferably QGIS, but also ArcGIS) to integrate spatial risk data with socio‑economic indicators and evaluate the spatial distribution of costs and benefits of adaptation interventions. /li liDecision‑support tools: Experience with spreadsheet‑based or coded frameworks for multi‑criteria decision‑making, including methods like Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP); knowledge of relevant R/Python packages is beneficial. /li liData visualization and reporting: Ability to produce clear, interactive, and policy‑relevant outputs using appropriate data visualization and reporting tools; basic familiarity with LaTeX is a plus for scientific documentation. /li liExcellent knowledge of the English language. /li liGood communication skills and a teamworking attitude. /li /ul /li /ul h3DURATION, COMPENSATION BENEFITS /h3 ul liPlease note that this opportunity will be issued both internally and externally. /li liThe Researcher will be based in Caserta CMCC office. /li liContract and gross annual salary will be based on qualifications and working experience. /li liWelfare package, for minimum 12 months contract. /li liFlexible working time as per internal policies. /li liSupport during the immigration process, if needed. /li /ul h3PROTECTED CATEGORY /h3 pBelonging to legally protected categories (ex L. 68/99) will constitute a preferential condition.
