About the role :
We are recruiting an R&D Validation Engineer. Reporting to the Validation Team Leader, you will join project teams organised using the Scrum methodology within the validation department to oversee activities related to testing our IPTV products: encoders, decoders, servers, routers, recorders, etc.
These teams work closely with product marketing to specify, design and validate these products, which take the form of either standalone electronic devices or software packages running in virtualised mode on servers.
The main tasks are as follows :
• Work closely with the team throughout the design and development process to gain a thorough understanding of the functionality of each new feature;
• Help draw up the validation plan;
• Design tests using testing techniques (unit, functional, performance, security tests, etc.) and assess the suitability of test automation;
• Develop and implement testing tools;
• Create test applications to test APIs;
• Ensure end-to-end testing is carried out: development of test automation tools, test execution, and advanced analysis of defects to provide the team with as much information as possible for their resolution;
• Track identified bugs;
• Document tests clearly and comprehensively;
• Participate in project reviews.
About you :
As a graduate of an engineering school or equivalent, you have at least 5–6 years’ experience in hardware and software system validation.
The skills required for this role are:
• Proficiency in validation and verification processes;
• Ability to draft test plans, tests and test reports;
• Experience of development using the Scrum methodology;
• Good organisational skills and the ability to work independently;
• Analytical and synthesis skills;
• Scripting languages (shell, Python, Perl, etc.);
Knowledge of the following areas would be an advantage :
• Use of project management tools (JIRA) and test management tools (Zephyr Scale)
• Digital video and audio coding standards, streaming;
• IP network protocols (UDP, RTP, RTMP, IGMP, etc.).
You are independent, meticulous and pragmatic; you enjoy working in a team and are keen to share your experiences. Accustomed to working on a project basis, you have good interpersonal skills and can adapt to your colleagues and the various constraints you face. You enjoy activities related to conducting tests and setting up test benches.
Given our company’s international environment, a working knowledge of technical English—both spoken and written—is essential for this role.
