The role will involve managing mission-critical infrastructure works, with a strong focus on MEP systems, vendor coordination, programme control, and client interface.The Project Manager will work closely with internal engineering teams, external contractors, and end clients to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget, in line with global data centre delivery standards.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage end-to-end delivery of data centre projects, from mobilisation through commissioning and handoverAct as the primary interface with the client, ensuring clear communication, reporting, and change managementCoordinate MEP contractors and vendors (power, cooling, UPS, switchgear, BMS, fire detection/suppression)Manage project schedules, budgets, risks, and change controlEnsure compliance with HSEQ requirements and local regulationsOversee installation, testing, and commissioning of mission-critical systemsSupport procurement activities and supplier performance managementProduce and maintain project documentation, progress reports, and financial forecastsCollaborate with design, engineering, and commissioning teams to resolve technical issuesRequired Experience & SkillsProven experience as a Project Manager on data centre or mission-critical projectsStrong background in MEP systems, particularly power and cooling infrastructureExperience managing vendors such as UPS, switchgear, generators, HVAC, and controlsSolid understanding of data centre delivery methodologies, construction sequencing, and commissioning processesDemonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholders in fast-paced project environmentsStrong commercial and contractual awarenessExcellent organisational, communication, and reporting skillsComfortable working on site in live or high-availability xpavfwm environmentsQualificationsDegree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related disciplineFormal Project Management qualification (PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent – desirable)H&S; certification suitable for construction and mission-critical environmentsFluent in English (Italian strongly preferred)Location & Working ArrangementBased in Milan, with regular site presence requiredSome flexibility for hybrid working, depending on project phaseWhy This RoleLong-term freelance opportunity on high-profile data centre developmentsWork within a global, mission-critical delivery frameworkAttractive day/hourly rate, depending on experience
