Overview

At AirAdvisor, we are dedicated to ensuring air travelers receive the compensation they are entitled to for flight disruptions. We launched a new service for baggage claims for lost, delayed, and/or destroyed luggage in June 2025. We operate in the EU, UK, and other international markets, focusing on protecting air passenger rights globally. We have processed over 500,000 claims for clients from 221 countries and hold a 4.7-star rating from 25,850+ reviews. We operate in 21 languages (9 more forthcoming this year) and aim to reach 1 million claims by the end of 2026.

Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Litigation Lawyer specializing in consumer flight claims (typically via small claims procedure) to lead in-court collections, owning or wanting to open their own boutique legal firm in Italy. Pre-court collections are managed by a team of paralegals. You will be responsible for filing batches of court cases to collect compensation and/or reimbursement of Out-of-Pocket Expenses (OPE) incurred by passengers and/or recover ticket refunds. AirAdvisor currently handles three types of airline claims: EU261 compensation for flight delays, cancellations, and denied boarding, and three types of baggage claims under the Montreal Convention: lost, delayed, and/or destroyed luggage.

Requirements

* A valid Attorney at Law license in Italy and professional liability insurance.
* A law degree from an accredited institution.
* Experience with small claims, consumer rights, or aviation law is a plus, but is not required.
* Knowledge of relevant consumer protection laws and aviation regulations is a plus, but is not required.
* Proven track record of success in in-court collection.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess case merits, conduct legal research, and develop effective legal strategies.
* Ability to manage a caseload, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and track statute of limitations.
* Experience in automating and standardizing claims management processes to scale up quickly.

Responsibilities

* Act as the legal representative of AirAdvisor in Italy, handling all legal matters and claims filed within the jurisdiction. If setting up a law firm in Italy were feasible, assist in this matter, including corporate structuring and related formalities.
* Pre-court collections and out-of-court settlements.
* Prepare and file batches of approximately 200+ legal new claims monthly in Italian courts against various airlines to recover:
o Compensation under EU Regulation 261/2004 and/or Turkish SHY Regulation for delays, cancellations, and denied boarding.
o Reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses incurred by passengers under EU261/2004 and/or the Montreal Convention.
o Ticket refunds owed to passengers under applicable legal frameworks.
o Handle baggage-related claims under the Montreal Convention and/or Warsaw Convention.
* Respond comprehensively and assertively to airline legal defenses, including substantive arguments as well as procedural and jurisdictional challenges.
* Lead the enforcement of court judgments, including initiating enforcement proceedings and coordinating with bailiffs or enforcement authorities when necessary.
* Engage in court-led settlement negotiations and, where applicable, represent AirAdvisor’s interests in securing favorable in-court settlements.
* Maintain complete and accurate legal case files, ensuring compliance with Italian legal ethics, data protection regulations, and professional standards. Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to develop best practices for managing recurring legal issues in airline and consumer rights litigation.
* Stay informed about developments in consumer protection law, aviation regulations, EU regulations, and judicial precedents to provide updated, authoritative legal advice and representation.
* If a court decision is unjust, pursue legal remedies, including appeals, where feasible.
* Support the optimization and automation of claims management workflows using legal technology solutions, including AI-based tools.
* Identify and propose new civil claims opportunities viable under Italian law and offering low-value, high-volume litigation potential. Areas may include: bank/financial disputes, labour law-related claims, etc.
o Cross-jurisdictional legal research across EU and UK markets to identify relevant precedents applicable in Italy.
* Represent AirAdvisor in local media and coordinate with the PR Manager for publicity around landmark rulings or developments.
* Review and vet content as needed to build local trust and authority.
* Advocate for passenger and consumer rights within the airline and travel industry.

Soft skills

* Professional, ambitious, and open to testing new AI optimization solutions and approaches to claims management.
* Self-aware, honest, and able to take responsibility for mistakes while driving continuous improvement.
* Result-oriented with the ability to deliver fast and make a significant impact on the business.
* Initiative and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Exceptional problem-solving and creative thinking abilities.
* Independent and able to work without constant supervision.
* Commitment to customer satisfaction and willingness to go above and beyond.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and concisely.

We offer

* Remote-first culture with flexible start and end times. Hours can be tracked in our time-tracking app to suit your needs.
* Paid time off and public holidays.
* Annual pay reviews and performance-based bonuses.
* Professional growth opportunities through global expansion and new market entry.
* Dynamic work with opportunities to learn and apply skills in new ways.
* Supportive team culture and international colleagues across 11 countries.
* Job Type: Indefinite-term Service Agreement or a B2B contract.
