An exciting opportunity to join a brand new, vibrant and dynamic school, committed to the highest standards in secondary boarding education. We are seeking to appoint an outstanding, dedicated and committed teacher of Music with a record of engaging the school body, successfully raising student attainment and a real passion for their subject.
The ideal candidate will inspire and challenge students through positive collaboration and creative, engaging teaching and enthusiasm. You will play a vital role in fostering critical thinking, developing high level subject skills and are able to deliver lessons and after school sessions that are inclusive and innovative. Additionally, a sense of humour and excellent interpersonal skills would be beneficial to this new endeavour. We are seeking a colleague with the confidence, clear vision and ability to play a leading role in the development of the wider music programme, particularly extra curricular.
Steeped in the traditions and history of Cheltenham College, UK, our campus is an eighteenth century villa with swimming pool, sports complex, gym, café and restaurant, located on the outskirts of Varese in Northern Italy.
Essential requirements:
- Be a qualified teacher with at least two years' experience
- Have a proven record of raising interest and participation rates in musical performance
- Be able to offer extra-curricular activities and leadership
- Be willing to work after school hours in tutoring boarders (subject to loadings)
- Have high expectations of work ethic and behaviour
- Have an active interest in the development of the whole child
- Have an in depth understanding of British Key Stage 3/GCSE and/or A Levels/IB Diploma
- Be able to inspire and challenge
- Be a good communicator with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
- Be motivated and passionate about young people and their learning
- Be committed and able to generate an appreciation and passion for music in all its many forms
Desirable
- Be willing to take on specific boarding duties (allowances available)
- Be willing and able to teach another subject
- Have coaching/outdoor pursuits qualifications and/or interests

The college offers an adapted British National Curriculum Key Stage 3, followed by Cambridge IGCSE and A Level or IB Diploma. Full boarding or day school provision is offered to students aged 11-18 from all around the world.
The campus comprises a gorgeous eighteenth century villa, with adjacent purpose-built residence, cafe and restaurant, all in extensive enclosed grounds containing swimming pool and high quality sports facilities. Situated on the outskirts of Varese in Northern Italy, the college offers a myriad of curricular and extra curricular possibilities: the region is activity and sports-rich, full of history and culture.
Cheltenham College Lombardy currently has capacity for over 300 student, with further growth planned in the coming years as the adjacent historical buildings are restored to their original state. The college blends the traditions and history of Cheltenham College UK with the cultural allure of Italy, offering an exceptional educational experience, characterised by extensive character-building in the wealth of academic and extra-curricular activities available. The opportunity to experience a British-style curriculum, learning approach and boarding environment with all that Italy has to give, offers a unique educational blend.
In the lower secondary school up to Year 9, students take classes in English, Maths, Science, two Modern Languages (including Italian), Humanities, PSHE and PE. In addition, there are timetabled lessons in Drama, Art and Music. IGCSE options include the core subjects (with Chemistry, Physics and Biology offered as separate courses) and also Economics, Business, Psychology and other options based on student demand which will be satisfied wherever resources allow. In Years 12 and 13 the range of options are offered on the basis of student preference.
The extra-curricular programme at CCL forms an integral part of the school week. Students have the opportunity to develop and enjoy interests in sport, the creative arts, service, leadership and a variety of other activities. The region offers all the usual mainstream sports plus equestrian, rafting, kite-surfing, rowing, kyaking, skiing, hiking and climbing. The Cheltenham College commitment is to develop confidence, character and leadership skills.
The boarding facilities are in a former four star hotel, superbly equipped, all rooms with en-suite facilities, benefitting from an on-site cafe and restaurant. Students have full access to the sports and gym facilities, all within safe and secure landscaped gardens.
