* Title: Medical Laboratory Technician
* Location: US Army Europe
* Start Date: 1st October 2025
* Job Type: Full Time
Job Overview: Healthcare Professionals are needed to provide medical services to support the Medical Treatment Facilities and Health Clinics within US Army Medical Command, Regional Health Command Europe, and other Department of Defense (DoD) agencies including US Navy and US Air Forces in Europe.
Qualifications
* Degree: Certificate
* Education: Graduate from a medical laboratory technician training program accredited by NAACLS, ABHES, or an equivalent program acceptable to AMT.
* Certification: Certification/registration as determined by the ASCP or AMT.
* Experience: Knowledge of standard and molecular laboratory techniques, or at least 2 years of work experience as a clinical laboratory technician in the last 5 years.
Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:
Perform clinical laboratory tests in sections such as hematology, chemistry, cytology, histotechnology, urinalysis, serology, microbiology, and blood bank as outlined in the TO.
* Determine the suitability of specimens for analysis, prepare specimens, and maintain their physiologic state.
* Prepare reagents and reference materials, calibrate instruments, and perform quality control checks.
* Recognize malfunctions, locate, and implement corrections, and verify results.
* Conduct quality control procedures and maintain records.
* Prepare specimens for transport or mail-out.
* Perform patient testing duties including nucleic acid extraction, PCR techniques, DNA sequencing, and other microbiological and molecular methods.
* Report results into the LIS, ensure documentation accuracy, and maintain records for at least two years.
* Participate in Quality Control / Quality Management protocols, review SOPs, and ensure safety and training compliance.
* Assist with disease surveillance, result certification, and report generation.
* Participate in external training, track expenditures, and maintain specimen surveys.
* Ensure specimen tracking from outlying clinics and submit results regularly.
* Perform additional tasks within the scope of a laboratory technician and disease surveillance duties.
DOCPER / SOFA / Logistical Support Status
This position is eligible for support under NATO SOFA articles 72 or 73.
