Open Position
Hybrid – AI & Data Analytics Engineer within the Software Unit. The role focuses on designing and developing AI/ML‑enabled services and applications for both flight and ground software across multiple mission domains, including Earth Observation, Space Weather, Space Situational Awareness, and the Argotec Ground Segment.
Duties
As an AI & Data Analytics Engineer you will:
* Design and develop software for space applications and services.
* Work through the entire software development lifecycle, from requirements definition to testing and reporting.
* Configure and tailor data‑processing environments and frameworks for onboard and ground‑based AI/ML applications.
* Participate in the integration and testing of onboard processing frameworks and AI/ML modules within flight and ground software, ensuring reliable execution in mission environments.
* Identify and support core tools for data analysis, model evaluation, and performance optimization.
* Design and develop tools (scripts, simulators, data pipelines) that enable the team to deliver high‑quality AI‑enabled software.
* Cooperate with other engineering teams to define system architectures and integrate AI/ML applications while respecting mission constraints and operational requirements.
* Support the path‑to‑production for deployed AI solutions, both on‑orbit and on the ground.
* Maintain AI and data‑processing solutions deployed in orbit throughout the satellite lifecycle, supporting mission operations and continuous improvement.
* Contribute to continuous improvement, documentation quality, and knowledge sharing within the team.
General Requirements
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (or proven equivalent experience).
* 2–3 years of experience in a similar role is considered a plus.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
* Excellent written and oral communication in English.
Required Experience & Skills
* Good understanding of AI/ML theory and data‑analysis workflows.
* Familiarity with the full AI/ML development lifecycle (training, validation, testing, deployment, monitoring).
* Good skills in software design and development in Python and C/C++.
* Familiarity with deep learning frameworks and toolkits (PyTorch, TensorFlow, OpenVino, ONNX, etc.).
* Knowledge of Git and familiarity with CI/CD fundamentals and best practices.
* Good understanding of Linux operating systems.
* Experience with scripting languages (Bash, Shell, etc.).
* Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, working under tight deadlines.
* Continuous learning attitude and commitment to excellence.
* Flexibility and adaptability to evolving requirements and stakeholder needs.
Additional Assets
* Familiarity with common architecture and software design patterns.
* Experience with CI/CD tools (BitBucket, Jenkins, SonarQube).
* Familiarity with computer vision fundamentals and common image‑analysis techniques.
* Knowledge of relational and non‑relational databases (PostgreSQL, SQLite, MongoDB).
* Experience with containerization and virtualization technologies (Docker, VMs).
* Experience with embedded programming, microcontroller‑based systems, and real‑time operating systems.
* Experience with Agile methodologies, software and hardware development lifecycles, and system design.
* Experience in one or more of Earth Observation, Space Weather, or Space Situational Awareness domains.
* Knowledge of EO data pre‑processing techniques (radiometric/geometric corrections, SAR pre‑processing, etc.).

Salary range: from €35,000 to €43,000.
