We're seeking a motivated Mid-Level Full Stack Developer to join our expanding engineering team. In this role, you'll contribute to the design and development of high‐quality applications across a variety of projects, working with Java Spring Boot backend services, frontend interfaces, and software testing activities. About the client and location The ESA Centre for Earth Observation is the European Space Agency's (ESA) based in Frascati, Italy. From this location ESA conducts most of their earth observation research, including data analysis and distribution for other non-ESA satellites. Tasks and activities The scope of work will include: Developing and maintaining robust backend services using Java Spring Boot. Designing and implementing RESTful APIs, ensuring smooth integrations with both internal and external systems. Optimizing application performance, security, and scalability to ensure reliable and high‐quality delivery. Building intuitive, user‐friendly interfaces using modern frontend frameworks such as Angular, React, or similar technologies. Ensuring responsive, accessible, and high‐quality UI/UX. Writing unit, integration, and end‐to‐end tests. Developing and maintaining automated test suites using TypeScript, leveraging tools such as Jest, Cypress, or Playwright. Participating in code reviews and help uphold high standards of code quality across the team. Working closely with product owners, designers, and fellow developers to deliver cohesive and well‐aligned solutions. Contributing to technical analysis, project planning, and documentation to support clear and efficient development workflows. Skills and experience The following skills and experience are mandatory : Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Informatics/Electronics Engineering or similar. At least 3 years of experience as a Full Stack or a Backend / Frontend Developer. Hands‐on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and REST API development. Intermediate experience with frontend technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and at least one framework. Solid understanding of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL ) and familiarity with Git and version‐control best practices. Strong problem‐solving mindset and ability to tackle complex technical challenges. Communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary environment. Curiosity, proactiveness, and a strong desire for continuous professional growth. Fluent in English, both written and spoken. The following skills and experience would be highly desirable : Experience working with CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, SonarQube or similar platforms. Hands-on work with with stack cloud platforms administration. Knowledge/Experience on Agile/Scrum methodologies. Exposure to Earth Observation. Practical knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes. Familiarity with frontend test automation tools such as Playwright or similar.
