From our office in the town of Frascati (Rome), CGI Italy helps scientists and entrepreneurs in processing Earth Observation data using cutting edge IT technologies to streamline big data analytics. Thanks to Space application and services we can extract information from satellite data offering solution in several domains including weather, geographical survey bringing value in different sectors like health, transportation, government, agriculture, maritime, oil and gas, trading, finance and insurance.
Earth Observation gives us the possibility to monitor Planet Earth and to investigate several challenges the humanity is facing like climate change, the Earth’s natural resources and you can be part of our team as an Earth Observation Applications Engineer.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

- Design and Develop EO Applications: create innovative applications leveraging Earth Observation (EO) data to support environmental monitoring, agriculture, urban planning, and disaster management.
- Data Analysis & Processing: Analyze large-scale EO datasets (e.g., from Copernicus, Landsat, VHR and Hyperspectral missions) using advanced processing techniques, including machine learning and image classification algorithms.
- Satellite Data Integration: Integrate multi-source satellite data with in-situ and ancillary datasets to deliver comprehensive insights for end-users.
- Cloud Computing & Big Data: Utilize cloud platforms to manage, process, and analyze EO data efficiently at scale.
- Software Development: Contribute to the development of software tools as EO applications
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with scientists, data engineers, and project managers to translate complex user requirements into technical solutions.
- Technical Documentation: Prepare technical reports, user manuals, and documentation to support application development and deployment.
- Client Engagement: Provide technical support, demonstrations, and training to clients and stakeholders, ensuring effective use of EO applications.
- Attendance to workshops and scientific working groups to present the activities and share the results within the community. Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest trends in EO technologies, satellite missions, and geospatial analytics to drive innovation within projects.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

- Hands-on experience with EO data and standard processing toolboxes (GDAL, SNAP, QGIS, etc.).
- Experience of working with large, complex data sets applying advanced analysis.
- Capability in performing end-to-end analysis, including data gathering, requirements specification, processing, analysis, results presentations.
- Ability to transform prototype processing into operational EO data processing SW.
- Degree in scientific discipline e.g. Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, related.
- Fluent spoken and written English.

Experience with the following technologies is considered a plus:

- Experience with git and other tools of operational SW development lifecycle.
- Experience with the full machine learning lifecycle, development and operations.
- Experience with Python, Deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.).
- Experience with common Data Science libraries (e.g., Pandas, Scikit-Learn, NumPy).
- Microservice architectures: Docker containers and Kubernetes.

This is a permanent contract position with the possibility to do part of the work activity in smart working.
You will have the opportunity to work on international projects, frequently embracing innovative technologies including big data and cloud native applications.
