SDS & Compliance Specialist Position Summary The Product Stewardship organization is embedded in the Corporate Industrial Function, but interacts closely with multiple functions providing regulatory expertise and guidance to the businesses. This position will report directly to the Specialty Polymers Operations Manager. The SDS and Compliance Specialist will create and maintain safety data sheets (SDS) and assign trade classifications. The position accountabilities are described below. Position Accountabilities Train and become an expert on export compliance regulations. Run export compliance rules in SAP, assess impact of export compliance regulations on portfolio, etc. Liase with the Customs Trade Compliance team on data gaps. Align with other Syensqo trade experts in other regions on an as needed basis. Examples of typical export regulations include, but are not limited to: Dual-use, Prior Informed Consent (PIC), Ozone depleting, drug pre-cursors, etc. Apply the classifications for R&I, intermediates, raw materials and/or commercial products. Train and become an expert at preparing and maintaining safety data sheets for commercial and R&I products using SAP EH&S system. Collaborate with Product Stewardship team members to manage and implement new/updated product regulatory knowledge. Develop a strong understanding of UN GHS classifications necessary to review/apply classifications in SDS. Provide support to the Hazcom team to test and validate new templates and new rules for global SDS on an as needed basis. Ensure database system consistency and carry out database cleaning if necessary. Work with the Operations team to optimize SDS request process and harmonize Product Stewardship procedures related to SDS and classification. Job Specifications Core Competencies Customer Care Teamwork Ethical Behavior Communication Collaboration Minimum Education Bachelors Degree in Chemistry or other technical discipline Preferred Education Understanding of polymer Chemistry a plus Knowledge of SAP a plus, but not required Minimum Experience 5 years experience in product stewardship, SDS writing, chemistry or other regulatory discipline Minimum Field-of-Expertise Customer Focus Strong communication skills Self direction/initiative Attention to detail Works independently with minimal supervision.
