Being a Tour Leader with Intrepid, you will do just that! /ph3Responsibilities /h3ulliProvide amazing customer service and travel advice – whether it's guiding a morning hike, a market visit, organising a hands‑on craft workshop or arranging a home‑cooked meal with a local family, you’ll create unforgettable moments that our travellers will never forget. /liliEnsure the safety and well‑being of your travellers, sometimes assisting in difficult situations while remaining calm and professional (e.g., a lost passport, medical attention, or a clash of personalities). /liliHost, lead and execute tours to budget, following the itinerary and fulfilling your administrative duties. /liliBe passionate about travel and share your love of it with our customers. /li /ulh3Qualifications /h3ulliExcellent communication skills in English and Italian. /liliA valid GAE Licence – Environmental Hiking Guide (Professional Qualification), covering guiding on foot, by bike, kayak and other non‑motorised activities in both protected and non‑protected environments. /liliStrong customer service experience, with a genuine passion for engaging and building rapport with a wide range of travellers. /liliSolid hiking and/or cycling experience, with a good practical and mechanical understanding of hiking equipment, bicycles and basic maintenance. /liliConfidence and a high level of fitness, with the ability to lead hiking days of up to 10–15km and cycling days of up to 70–80km. /liliTravel and guiding experience in Italy and across Europe, with a genuine enthusiasm for sharing these regions and their stories with travellers. /liliBasic computer skills, including experience using e‑mail, Word and Excel. /liliFull rights to work in Italy (we are unable to assist with obtaining work rights). /li /ulh3What you need to know /h3ulliThis is a freelance agreement role, offering flexibility in when and how you work. However, strong availability during peak seasons (May‑June and September‑October) is essential. /liliWe are recruiting leaders now, with training and onboarding scheduled for March 2026. /liliWith extended hours, regular hiking and cycling activities, and constant engagement with travellers, it’s important that you’re both mentally and physically prepared for the demands of the role. /liliYou’ll need to be comfortable spending time away from home, as leaders often travel for extended periods and some tours can run for up to four weeks. /liliYou’ll be leading trips across Italy, with the opportunity to explore and share these regions with travellers.
