OPTICAL ENGINEER – ABOUT THE ROLE
We deliver innovative engineering solutions for ground- and space-based optical systems.
We are looking for an Optical Engineer to design and develop advanced optical systems and components, contributing to the performance and innovation of our ground and space applications.
The ideal candidate has strong experience in optical design, analysis, and testing, with excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
The role requires close collaboration with mechanical, electronic, and manufacturing teams to ensure that optical specifications are properly implemented and verified throughout the development process.
WHAT YOU'LL GET TO DO
- Define the detailed optical design of systems and subsystems
- Perform optical performance analyses and trade-off studies
- Perform tolerance analysis and optimize designs for manufacturability and integration
- Define and manage error budgets and performance budgets
- Design and specify optical alignment setups and prepare alignment plans and procedures
- Define optical component requirements and specifications, including coating specifications.
- Prepare manufacturing drawings for optical components
- Contribute to AIT phases (optical testing, integration, and alignment)
- Perform radiometric estimations
- Prepare high-quality technical documentation, including design reports, analysis reports, integration procedures, and test reports.
- Collaborate and interface with customers, subcontractors, and suppliers throughout the project lifecycle.
YOU'LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN OPTICAL ENGINEER
- University degree in Physics, Optical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
- Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving attitude.
- Experience in optical design and analysis of optomechanical systems.
- Solid understanding of telescope architectures in the VIS and NIR spectral ranges; familiarity with UV and IR ranges is considered an advantage.
