Chief Financial Officer (CFO) – Portfolio Company
On behalf of a leading Private Equity fund, we are seeking a hands-on, execution-oriented Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for one of its portfolio companies in Italy. The business is entering a critical phase of transformation, requiring a finance leader with a strong operational mindset and a proven ability to navigate restructuring, turnaround, and/or transaction-heavy environments .
Role Mission
As CFO, you will be a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for driving financial performance, improving cash flow discipline, and supporting value creation initiatives in alignment with the private equity sponsor’s goals.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead all core finance functions: controlling, planning, reporting, treasury, tax, and audit .
* Act as finance partner to the CEO and the Board, providing strategic and operational insight.
* Take ownership of cash management, liquidity planning, and working capital optimization .
* Support and/or lead restructuring, turnaround, carve-out, or cost rationalization programs .
* Prepare and lead financial aspects of M&A activity (due diligence, integration, etc.).
* Establish reliable financial reporting tools and performance KPIs .
* Build and professionalize the finance team and internal processes to PE-grade standards.
* Maintain relationships with banks, advisors, legal and audit partners, ensuring covenant compliance and risk control.
Candidate Profile
* Seasoned finance executive with at least 10–15 years of experience, including prior CFO or Finance Director roles.
* Strong background in private equity-backed businesses – ideally as CFO in a portfolio company .
* Strong experience in family run business and SMEs
* Demonstrated experience in turnaround, restructuring, or special situations (mandatory).
* Solid technical background in cash flow management, cost control, debt structuring, and financial operations .
* Experience leading or supporting M&A transactions (both buy and sell side).
* Hands-on, entrepreneurial approach – able to operate with limited resources and tight timelines .
* Fluent in Italian and English .
* CPA, MBA or equivalent preferred.
