ABOUT THE ROLE The Critical Environment Manager (CEM) is a key resource for the technical management of operating data centers. The CEM is responsible for streamlining data center operations and maintenance, as well as removing risks in the data center critical environment. They lead both recurrent (e.g., seasonal readiness) and ad-hoc technical projects to mitigate or remediate risks of loss of resilience or redundancy. The CEM collects technical data from Data4 Facility Managers and customers to define technical roadmaps and projects. They oversee all aspects of critical environment projects, from inception to completion, coordinating with engineering, operations, and facilities management teams to ensure seamless execution and minimal disruption. They are directly accountable for completing projects on time and within budget. They identify and mitigate risks such as equipment failures, power outages, or environmental threats by implementing risk management strategies and contingency plans, including summer / winter readiness, load failover audits, etc. They ensure projects meet industry standards, regulatory requirements, and certifications like Uptime Institute Tier Standards and ISO 27001. They support QA processes and audits, ensuring compliance. The CEM engages with external vendors, contractors, and stakeholders, monitoring performance and adherence to project specifications. They conduct technical audits based on failure data and stay updated on data center trends. They foster continuous improvement, reducing human errors, streamlining operations, and leveraging emerging technologies to optimize performance. The CEM communicates project status, milestones, and metrics to stakeholders, preparing reports and presentations. They promote trust and collaboration, assist team members in removing hurdles, and help create a shared technical vision and goals. RESPONSIBILITIES In terms of IMS Certifications : Respect and enforce certification policies : including IMS, H&S, environmental, information security, and energy management policies. Job-specific responsibilities : Collect technical data from the field and customers. Establish risk maps and contingency plans. Coordinate with cross-functional teams for project execution. Lead technical discussions with customer representatives and coordinate technical support. Lead technical projects, ensuring timely and within-budget completion. Communicate project status and ensure compliance with standards and regulations. Implement QA processes and audits. Monitor vendor performance and stakeholder engagement. Conduct technical audits based on failure data. REQUIREMENTS Education and experience : 5 years in a similar role or mission-critical operations, with experience in incident management and resolution. 2 years in project management or managing complex processes. Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Energy Engineering, or equivalent. Technical skills : Experience in data center operations and maintenance. Knowledge of power distribution, cooling systems, and infrastructure. Experience in project and risk management. Familiarity with IT tools like JIRA, Grafana, Proxima, or Remedy. Preferred : Certification from PMI or similar. Strong work ethics and trustworthiness. Strategic thinking and vision-building skills. Ability to convey ideas in written form.
