Work Location
Position is located OCONUS at Aviano AB, Italy; work is performed at an aircraft depot facility, including occasional flight line operations, hangar and/or aviation field environment.
Description:
Responsible for depot‑level modification, upgrade, and test of aircraft sub‑systems, ensuring airworthiness. Duties include, but are not limited to, inspecting, testing, modifying, and repairing avionic and other electrical systems/sub‑systems. Examples include radar, radio, navigation, and aircraft power systems/sub‑systems.
Responsibilities
* Modify, upgrade, inspect, test, adjust, and repair aircraft avionic and electrical systems, such as installed radar, radio, navigation, and power systems using hand tools and test equipment.
* Inspect components for defects such as loose connections and frayed wires, and verify accuracy of assembly and installation.
* Test avionic and electrical systems under simulated or actual operating conditions to determine performance and airworthiness, using oscilloscopes, digital meters, counters, and circuit analyzers.
* Adjust, repair, or replace defective components based on test results, following blueprints, schematics, handbooks, and other technical documents.
* Calibrate installed, modified, or repaired systems and/or equipment to prescribed specifications when required.
* Operate ground servicing equipment to operationally test, inspect, and verify functionality and airworthiness of avionic and other electrical systems.
* Accurately document all required U.S. Government and program forms and documents, including electronic records.
* Effectively interact with program and customer representatives as well as on‑site business or military representatives.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
* Meet one of the following requirements:
o Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of recent specialized related experience in avionics or electro‑environmental maintenance.
o Associate's degree, A&P license, or FCC license plus 4 years of recent specialized related experience in avionics or electro‑environmental maintenance.
o High School Diploma plus 8 years of recent specialized related experience in avionics or electro‑environmental maintenance.
* F‑16 experience strongly preferred; other fighter jet experience may be considered.
* 5th generation aircraft experience is a plus.
* Microsoft Office Suite skills preferred.
* Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance required.
* U.S. Citizenship required because of the Secret Clearance.
* Must be able to work 1st or 2nd shift as needed.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
* Must be able to lift and carry parts, tooling, and other awkward items sometimes weighing greater than 50 lbs, including walking up and down stairs, aircraft maintenance stands, and platforms.
* Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching, and bending throughout the workday.
* Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics to enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of the position can be fully met.
