Position Summary
We are looking for a Service Engineer to join our Technical Service Team. The Service Engineer performs required preventive and corrective maintenance on the STERIS/Cantel product lines and field troubleshooting primarily in his/her service area in the country.
Please note: a valid driver’s license is required. The role will cover customer service activities in the Lazio region, with possible travel also within the Abruzzo region.
Duties
* Perform preventive and corrective maintenance required on STERIS/Cantel product lines, related product lines, and competitive equipment. This includes: disassembling, replacing, or repairing defective parts; rewiring or reassembling as required; troubleshooting, adjusting/calibrating, and certifying equipment ready for use by using standard and specialized tools and test equipment (i.e., schematics, diagrams, technical manuals, etc.).
* Perform administrative duties as assigned including computer synchronization daily, complete service reports, maintaining tools and parts inventory, and using Corporate applications (Siebel, Oracle, Sales Connection, others) to handle daily activity.
* Develop and maintain effective, communicative relationships with customers, managers, support functions and the sales organization.
* Maintain a courteous and professional demeanor when working with customers, contractors, management, and fellow employees. Utilize customer protocols when entering and exiting facilities and abide by all STERIS and Customer Health & Safety protocols and procedures.
* Provide solutions to customers to enhance sales and growth in the field through effective positioning of STERIS/Cantel products and services, identifying opportunities, and passing leads to management and sales.
* Other duties as assigned by the Service Manager.
Education Degree
High School Diploma or GED
Required Experience & Competencies
* Minimum of 2 years of experience in an industrial environment, preferably in the medical sector or other regulated industries, with general knowledge of washing equipment and sterilization processes.
* Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, combined with a well‑organized and structured approach to maintenance activities.
* Good level of computer literacy and solid technical background, with effective written and verbal communication skills.
* Sufficient technical English proficiency to understand manuals, technical documentation, and interact with international suppliers.
* Completion of a recognized technical training program in mechanical, electrical, or electronic fields.
Additional info
* Position requires lifting (up to 25 kgs), bending, sitting, standing, and twisting.
* Must travel extensively to customer sites.
* Overnight travel required.
* Flexible scheduling may be required to accommodate customer needs.
* Must be able to commute within the designated territory.
* Domestic travel required: 85%.
