FISH Diagnostics and LBC – U.S. Market
Aliko Scientific is a global group leading the advancement of oncology diagnostics. Through its U.S.-based company Ikonisys, and its European cytology branch Hospitex International, Aliko delivers cutting-edge, fully automated platforms for FISH (Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization) and Liquid-Based Cytology (LBC) .
We are now seeking a full-time Business Development Manager based in Florence, with extensive travel in US, to lead the expansion of our FISH & LBC diagnostics business across the United States.
Position Overview
As Business Development Manager, you will report directly to the Group CEO and be responsible for executing Aliko's commercial strategy for FISH diagnostics in the U.S. market. You will act as the strategic driver for client acquisition, distributor management, and revenue growth, while working closely with marketing, clinical, and technical teams based in the U.S. and Europe.
Primary Responsibilities:
Translate corporate strategy into executable commercial plans for the FISH diagnostics segment and LBC
Lead market development and customer engagement efforts, identifying and converting new business opportunities.
Build and manage strategic relationships with clinical laboratories, hospitals, and diagnostic groups.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, marketing, regulatory, legal) to ensure smooth execution.
Represent the company at scientific conferences, trade shows, and partner meetings.
Provide accurate forecasts, market insights, and strategic recommendations to senior management.
Support the scaling of the FISH & LBC business through validated models and partnerships.
Candidate Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biology, Biotechnology, or a related medicine/scientific discipline.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years in business development or commercial leadership within the life sciences or diagnostics industry.
Strong track record as product specialist (5 years) in molecular diagnostics, cytogenetics, or oncology testing markets (FISH or LBC experience highly preferred).
Experience with U.S. healthcare and diagnostic lab systems.
Success in managing B2B relationships and closing complex deals.
Skills:
Fluent English and Italian required; additional languages are a plus.
Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong execution focus.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating across international teams.
Proficient in CRM tools and digital sales platforms.
Location:
Based in Florence, Italy with 50% time of travel along U.S.
Willingness to travel nationally and occasionally to Europe.
