POST CONTEXT
NATO Signal Battalion operates, maintains, and sustains Deployable Communication Information Systems (DCIS) to enable command and control (C2) in support of deployed NATO Headquarters and entities during Alliance operations, missions and exercises.
The Command Group provides and sustains command and control capabilities, in terms of support, coordination, management, administrative service, and specialists' advice to communication and information systems (CIS), in order to meet the CIS units' mission.
The S4 Section is responsible for the overall preparation and execution of logistic plans, movements and policies for the NSB and subordinate units.
The Movement and Transportation Cell is responsible for the planning and enablement of all movements related to exercises, missions and operations.
The incumbent is responsible for the planning and support of multi-modal movements for NATO Signal Battalion's elements.
2. DUTIES
The incumbent's duties are:
- Plans and develops Bn movement plans and activities for subordinate deployable elements.
- Assists in preparing, issuing and updating plans and orders for Bn (re)deployments, operations and exercises.
- Provides movement support and control during (re)deployments.
- Conducts route analysis and prepares movement schematics and/or instructions if required.
- Coordinates movement de-confliction with internal and external stakeholders as required.
- Coordinates and collect required documentation regarding the border crossing, transit, movement support and Real Life Support (RLS) with all stakeholders, including NMCCs/Host Nation Support (HNS).
- Ensures forecasted movement requirements are implemented as per movement plan.
- Advises, inspects and evaluates subordinate units on Dangerous Goods (DG) handling.
- Acts as LOGFAS operator.
3. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS AND ADDITIONAL DUTIES
The incumbent may be required to perform a similar range of duties elsewhere within the organisation at the same grade without there being any change to the contract. // This a mandatory deployment post. The incumbent may be required to undertake deployments in support of military operations and exercises, and/or TDY assignments, both within and outside NATO's boundaries. Such operational deployment may exceed 30 days duration up to 183 days in any period of 547 days, and may be on short notice. For NATO International Civilian Staff, acceptance of an employment contract linked to this post constitutes agreement to deploy in excess of 30 days if required.

The work is normally performed in a Normal NATO office working environment.

4. QUALIFICATIONS
ESSENTIAL - Higher Secondary education and intermediate vocational training in logistics, transport or related discipline which might lead to a formal qualification with 2 years of experience. or - Secondary education and completed advanced vocational training leading to a professional qualification or professional accreditation, with 4 years of post-related experience. - Experience in Military Movements (Planning, routing, scheduling and control of personnel and cargo movements over lines of communication) - Experience in Ground Logistics - Must have an English Standard Language Proficiency level SLP 3322 in Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing based on NATO standards. DESIRABLE ASSETS - Secondary education and basic training in logistics, transport or related discipline for specific task related skills, with 2 years' experience. - Working experience in a multinational / joint environment. - Experience in Dangerous Goods (DG) Handling. 5. POSITION AND CANDIDATE PROFILE Personal attributes The incumbent must possess good interpersonal and communication skills, as he/she often works independently, specifically in matters relating to movement and transportation. Uses initiative to propose solution for unexpected problems and determines which issues to refer to supervisor. Uses independent judgment to propose solutions based on resources available and in accordance with policies and directives. Professional contacts The incumbent must maintain regular professional contacts with others inside and/or outside immediate organisation on functional matters, solicits/gives information and provides advice/guidance.
The incumbent will have regular contact with internal and external stakeholders of various levels, including NCISG HQ, other NATO entities such as a JFC and NMCC's. Contribution to the objectives
Work involves the provision of information or analysis of part of a task assisting others to take action within the organisation.
- The position directly involves the Movement and Transportation of the NSB, which affects the NSBs' mission accomplishment both in a static peace headquarters and in a deployed capacity.

6. REMARKS
During crisis of MLE the incumbent is reassigned to the Crisis Establishment, where will carry out functions within the DCIS Support Group.
7. CONTRACT
The successful candidate will receive a three-year definite duration contract which may be followed by an indefinite duration contract. NATO-serving staff members will be offered a contract in accordance with the NATO Civilian Personnel Regulations (NCPRs).
The basic entry-level monthly salary for a NATO Grade G10 in Italy is Euro 4,041.51 which may be augmented by allowances based on the selected staff member's eligibility, and which is subject to the withholding of approximately 20% for pension and medical insurance contributions.
