Embedded software engineer
Work Location: Pisa, Italy
Short summary:
Pisa Research Center plays a leading role within Huawei Group in researching new technologies and applications in the field of digital energy and electric vehicles. The company is looking for an operating system engineer to enlarge its development team. In this role, you will be a versatile software engineer focusing on the design and development of low-level drivers and mechanisms. You will join a dynamic and highly collaborative team of experts and PhDs passionate about research projects and innovative solutions in the automotive and embedded systems domains.
Main responsibilities:
1. Design and optimize RTOS kernel components and device drivers for industrial domains.
2. Perform low-level performance analysis and optimization for CPUs, GPUs and other hardware components in embedded systems.
Position requirements:
1. M.Sc degree in Computer Science, Computer or Electronic Engineering. PhD preferred.
2. Excellent knowledge of the C and/or C++ programming language and experience with the Assembly programming language.
3. Knowledge of programming on POSIX operating systems (e.g., Linux).
4. Knowledge about real-time and concurrent parallel programming.
5. Experience in programming real-time operating systems (RTOS) and device drivers.
6. Expertise in low-level performance analysis and optimizations for embedded systems.
7. Familiarity with industrial communication protocols and networks.
8. Knowledge about concepts of computer architectures, including memory protection mechanisms (i.e., MPU and MMU) and address virtualization.
9. Excellent collaboration and communication skills with good own initiative and self-organization skills. Fluency in English and ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
The following requirements will constitute right of priority:
1. Knowledge of the energy domain, including PV and ESS systems.
2. Experience in programming ARM or RISC-V processors.
3. Experience with hardware debuggers (e.g., Lauterbach, JLink, etc.).
4. Knowledge of safety concepts (e.g., ISO26262, IEC61508, MISRA-C, code coverage, etc.).
5. Knowledge of the AUTOSAR Classic standard and development tools.
6. Experience in implementation of unit tests and execution of test automation scripts (through e.g., CUnit, Googletest).
