You will gain a great experience in learning all the instruments, procedures and technical aspects with the support of your tutor and colleagues within the Connectivity Development Department.
Part of Electrics & Electronics division, it is focused on developing advanced vehicle connectivity solutions. The team works on integrating wireless communication technologies, connected services, and digital architectures to enable seamless interaction between vehicles, infrastructure, and users. The topics covered include V2X communication, connected infotainment systems, and automotive-grade connectivity components, all contributing to the advancement of smart and connected mobility.
Thesis Project
As thesis student, you will be supported by your Tutor in order to analyse and develop the following thesis project about the design of a lightweight wireless communication system aimed at enhancing situational awareness for vulnerable road users in urban environments for V2X scenarios.
Key requirements
* Basic knowledge of wireless communication protocols, preferably Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE);
* Familiarity with embedded systems or mobile platforms capable of BLE broadcasting;
* Understanding of sensor fusion techniques, especially GNSS and IMU integration;
* Academic experience with data encoding and message formatting, ideally in constrained environments;
* Familiarity with ETSI standards or similar specifications for vehicular communication;
* Academic programming skills in languages suitable for low-level or real-time applications (e.g., C/C++, Python);
* Basic understanding of V2X ecosystems and their role in urban mobility;
* Interest in cooperative systems and intelligent transportation technologies;
* Problem-solving mindset focused on low-latency and low-power design challenges;
* Good team working skills;
* Innovation oriented and eager to learn;
* Sense of responsibility and integrity;
* Good interpersonal and communication skills;
* Good time management capability and proactivity.
Additional Information
Education: Attending a master’s degree in Computer, Telecommunication Engineering or similar;
Language skills: Fluent knowledge of written and spoken English (at least B2 level);
