Speech/Language Pathologist

Education
The successful candidate must hold current CT certification as Speech/Language Pathologist (061). The candidate also must have a Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university (Masters Degree preferred).
Position Summary
School-based speech-language pathologists provide prevention, assessment, and remediation services for students who exhibit difficulties in the areas of language, speech, voice, and fluency. These services are designed to help children meet their educational goals.
Responsibilities
Provide prevention, assessment, and remediation services for students with difficulties in language, speech, voice, and fluency.
Schedule interventions using a variety of service delivery models, including classroom intervention, consultation/collaboration, and pull-out in the least restrictive environment.
Collaborate with teachers, psychologists, and other school personnel to meet students’ needs.
Coordinate individualized educational program objectives with related school personnel.
Collect and keep data for program planning and decision-making.
Maintain confidentiality of student records.
Complete records for third‑party reimbursement accurately and timely.
Conduct speech, language, and hearing screenings.
Administer formal and informal assessments.
Obtain additional diagnostic information from appropriate persons and records.
Analyze and interpret data to make recommendations regarding speech‑language services.
Provide information on speech, language, and hearing programs.
Select therapy materials tailored to students’ needs, age, culture, and interests.
Adjust intervention strategies based on student performance.
Promote effective interpersonal relations with students.
Manage time efficiently.
Pursue continuing education and professional growth activities related to speech‑language‑hearing and education.
Consult with non‑school agencies to enhance services.
Minimum Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge
Current CT certification as a Speech/Language Pathologist (061).
Knowledge of assistive technology.
Experience working with students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
Ability to safeguard confidentiality of student records.
Effective communication and collaboration skills.
Evaluation
Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board's policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel.
