Role Overview
We’re hiring an IT Infrastructure / Systems Engineer in Italy to own and evolve our IT infrastructure, managing complex systems while driving ongoing improvements. You’ll act as the local infrastructure lead, working closely with the wider European IT team. This hands‑on role requires adaptability, balancing infrastructure delivery, modernization, and occasional support while managing priorities and boundaries.\n
Operating within a diverse environment of legacy and modern technologies, you’ll play a key role in migration and consolidation initiatives, including application and workflow transitions and the build‑out of new infrastructure. The role suits a well‑rounded engineer with broad technical exposure (e.g., Azure, Kubernetes) and is ideal for someone with L1–L3 or MSP experience looking to focus on a single, strategic platform.

Key Responsibilities
- Own and operate local infrastructure.
- Act as the local infrastructure owner for the Italian site, ensuring stability, security, and performance of local IT systems.
- Manage the lifecycle of servers, virtualization platforms, network components, and security infrastructure.
- Work closely with a distributed EU IT team, ensuring local infrastructure aligns with central architecture and security standards.
- Act as local technical contact for infrastructure‑related matters.
- Support and maintain a mixed infrastructure landscape including virtualization (VMware ESXi, Hyper‑V, Nutanix), Windows and Linux servers, networking (VLANs, routing, switching), and firewall platforms (Palo Alto, Check Point).
- Support lab and development environments.
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues across systems, network, and virtualization layers.
- Help transition legacy systems to more modern, scalable platforms.
- Play a key role in evolving the environment, contributing to initiatives such as Nutanix adoption, Azure integration, and ongoing improvements to networking and security.
- Maintain clear, structured documentation covering architecture, processes, and operational procedures.
- Actively share knowledge with the wider EU IT team.
Experience
- Solid experience in infrastructure or systems engineering roles.
- Comfortable working in complex, hybrid environments.
- Able to work independently while collaborating with remote teams.
- Good level of English.
Core Technical Skills
- Virtualization: VMware ESXi, Hyper‑V, or Nutanix.
- Linux and Windows Server environments.
- Networking fundamentals (VLANs, routing, switching).
- Firewall technologies (Palo Alto or Check Point).
- Core infrastructure services (DNS, DHCP, Active Directory).
Nice to Have
- Experience with Nutanix and/or Microsoft Azure.
- Scripting or automation (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
- Exposure to development or lab environments.
Personal Attributes
