This role will be part of the SQIM R&D department, reporting to the R&D Director, and will serve as the team leader, and will serve as the team leader, guiding and supporting R&D research team. Key responsibilities: - Project Planning & Coordination: develop and manage detailed work plans, allocate resources, set priorities and deadlines, and monitor progress to ensure timely project execution. - Technical Leadership & Support: provide scientific guidance, troubleshoot complex issues, design and execute experiments, and validate research data for accuracy and compliance. - Innovation & Process Development: propose and implement improvements, facilitate technology transfer, and stay informed on the latest trends in fermentation science. - Experimental Design & Execution: lead hands-on lab work, design and run experiments for internal and external projects, and ensure accurate data collection, analysis, and interpretation. - Reporting & Documentation: prepare thorough reports, interpret data to generate insights, and maintain high-quality documentation aligned with company standards. - Communication & Collaboration: report to R&D leadership, coordinate with production and quality teams, and present findings to internal and external stakeholders. - Lab Operations & Safety: oversee lab maintenance, enforce safety protocols, and manage inventory of supplies and equipment. Education and experience: - Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology, biology, biotechnology, chemical engineering, or related field required. - Having gathered experience and applied knowledge in microbiology, fermenter/bioreactor operation and/or design, process data analytics, preferably within private industry. - Strong analytical problem-solving and strategic thinking skills. - Fluency in Italian and English (both written and spoken). Knowledge, skills, and abilities: - Good communication and strong interpersonal skills. - Strong leadership, collaboration, and team building skills. - Able to generate ideas, test their effectiveness and decide on a plan of action. - Ability to negotiate, resolve conflicts, and influence decision-making both internally and externally. - Analytical skills to test and measure the quality of the performed activities. - Skills in organization and attention to details. - Aptitude for equipment operation, maintenance, and sanitation. - Maintaining accurate records and material traceability. - Ability to plan tasks and manage time effectively to complete projects on time. - Experience with safety procedures, including proper handling of chemical and/or biological materials. - Problem-solving skills.
