In this role, you’ll join Amazon Leo's Structural Integrity and Analysis team as a Liaison Engineer to innovate and solve engineering issues that arise during Amazon Leo production operations, leading to every flight of our satellite constellation. You will work on the shop floor alongside Manufacturing and Quality teams, developing engineering dispositions related to non-conformances. You will work hard, have fun, and make history!
Key Job Responsibilities
* Work the 2nd shift: 4:00 pm–2:00 am, 4 days a week (back half Wednesday–Saturday).
* Review and disposition non‑conformance events of the spacecraft and its ground support equipment across all phases of Amazon Leo operations (procurement, storage, handling, manufacturing, assembly, testing, transportation, final integration, launch and orbital operations).
* Develop standard repairs, rework procedures, propose design for manufacturing (DFM) improvements, improved processes, and work instructions.
* Conduct root‑cause investigations and develop corrective actions.
* Document static, dynamic, and fatigue stress analyses when needed to support dispositions, interpreting established structural analysis reports.
* Develop analysis methods to address common non‑conformances.
* Collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering experts to provide root‑cause failure analyses.
* Interact with internal customers, external customers, and suppliers.
About the Team
The Liaison Engineering team is part of the Amazon Leo Structural Integrity and Analysis teams (Structural Analysis, Loads and Dynamics, Materials and Processes, and Reliability). It is ultimately responsible for the integrity of not only the spacecraft but all other commodities supporting the program, inside and outside of the Mechanical Engineering group.
Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
* 3+ years of demonstrated experience in a Liaison Engineer / Material Review Board (MRB) role with aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle structures.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production.
* Experience with the project management of technical projects.
* Strong fundamentals in engineering fundamentals (statics, dynamics, modal, frequency response, random vibration, sine and acoustic analyses/tests).
* Experience with formal root‑cause and corrective action investigations.
* Experience with fatigue and fracture analyses.
* Knowledge of or experience with spacecraft technology and related primary, secondary, and tertiary structures.
* Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution System (MES).
* Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
* Strong understanding of ANSI Y14.5M-1994 (drawing interpretation).
* Experience with Siemens Products (Teamcenter, NX, NX Nastran).
Benefits
The base salary range for this position is 117,300.00 – 160,000.00 USD annually. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
