Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager (CXa) to join our team on a permanent basis, supporting the delivery of large-scale data centre projects in Milan. The successful candidate will act as the Commissioning Authority, leading all commissioning activities from design through construction, testing, and handover, ensuring systems meet performance, resilience, and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as the Commissioning Authority (CXa) for mission-critical data centre projects
* Develop and manage the commissioning plan, programme, and procedures
* Review design documentation to ensure commissionability, redundancy, and compliance
* Lead commissioning activities for MEP systems including:
* Electrical (HV/LV, UPS, generators)
* Mechanical (chillers, CRAH/CRAC, BMS)
* Coordinate factory acceptance tests (FATs) and site acceptance tests (SATs)
* Manage integrated systems testing (IST) and seasonal testing
* Chair commissioning workshops and progress meetings
* Ensure commissioning activities align with TIA-942, Uptime Institute, and client standards
* Manage handover documentation, O&M manuals, and training for operations teams
* Identify risks and resolve commissioning-related technical issues
* Ensure health & safety compliance during commissioning activities
Required Experience & Skills
* Proven experience as a Commissioning Manager / CXa on data centre projects
* Strong background in mission-critical MEP systems
* Experience delivering projects through design, construction, and live environments
* Knowledge of Uptime Institute Tier certifications and/or TIA standards
* Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and interface with clients, contractors, and designers
* Excellent reporting, coordination, and communication skills
Qualifications
* Degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering
* Professional certifications (desirable):
* CXA / CxA accreditation
* Uptime Institute ATD / AOS
* Fluent English required; Italian language skills advantageous
