Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist

Site Leader
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist is responsible for implementation and refinement of EHS systems and governance to the support site routine operations and projects. This role supports the Site Leader to develop, implement and maintain Environmental, Health and Safety practices, programs and initiatives, which contributes to establishment of a strong EHS culture at the plant. The EHS Specialist will provide EHS training programs to enhance the EHS performance at the site.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree is preferable (e.g. Chemical Engineer or other similar technical discipline).
Qualified RSPP Module A, B and C (D.Lgs 81.08) is required
EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate brings experience in EHS, preferably within chemical or pharmaceutical API manufacturing. They have at least two years of EHS practice in biotech or pharmaceutical GMP environments, with a strong ability to promote a solid safety culture, communicate clearly, and monitor key safety indicators. A solid understanding of EHS permitting, regulatory requirements, and reporting processes is essential.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The role supports the upkeep of EHS management systems and ensures ongoing compliance with environmental, legal, and company requirements. It includes investigating incidents, delivering safety training, and providing daily guidance to employees and contractors. The specialist works closely with manufacturing teams to promote safe practices, assess site risks, and verify the effectiveness of controls.
They maintain key EHS registers, follow up on audit actions, and support emergency preparedness, including risk assessments and coordination with Emergency Response Teams. The role also helps define annual EHS objectives, oversees occupational monitoring programs, and serves as the main contact during regulatory inspections.
CORE COMPETENCIES
The ideal candidate can set clear, measurable project goals, manage competing priorities, and turn plans into concrete actions. They can develop standards and policies aligned with HSE objectives and work effectively with colleagues and external partners. Strong time management, multitasking, and communication skills—preferably in English—are essential. Experience in delivering EHS awareness training is also expected.
