The role involves managing passive and active thermal control systems, atmospheric control, air revitalization, temperature and humidity control, water management, fire detection and suppression, and other environmental control systems. Key Responsibilities
Define specific thermal and environmental requirements derived from customer high-level requirements. Manage trade‑offs to support architectural basic choices. Define ATCS and PTCS architecture. Define ECLSS architectures (Atmosphere Control System, Air Revitalization System, Temperature & Humidity Control System, Water Management System, Waste Recovery System, Fire Detection System). Size and design ATCS, PTCS, and ECLSS considering manufacturability and integration constraints. Build and run simple models for thermal and fluidic analyses to support sizing and design choices. Prepare procurement specifications for ATCS, PTCS, and ECLSS in collaboration with the Thermal Design Department. Provide technical follow‑on of procurement up to delivery (including subcontractor management). Support development and qualification of manufacturing processes for ATCS/PTCS/ECLSS hardware. Assist hardware integration and final testing. Support thermal aspects of thermal vacuum tests and prepare specifications for thermal balance tests, and support definition of hydraulic and environmental tests. Assist Quality Assurance in discussion and disposition of NCRs during manufacturing, integration, and testing activities.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Thermal, Nuclear, Energetic). Previous work experience in the requested discipline and field (Space) is highly appreciated. Experience managing subcontractors from both a technical and programmatic standpoint. Leadership experience in managing a technical team. Knowledge of thermal control and fluidic control requirements and solutions for space station manned modules, satellites, and re‑entry vehicles. Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and techniques relevant to ATCS/PTCS/ECLSS constituents. Knowledge of codes (ESATAN TMS, Thermal Desktop) for thermal analysis. Excellent teamwork and multi‑disciplinary collaboration skills. Availability to work in shifts if required by the program. Strong analytical, synthesis, and problem‑solving skills.
