Basic Function
Located at the Gorla Site, the Production Manager SP has the responsibility for the safe and successful production of SP products (Specialty Powders) supporting the efficiency of the processes and the continuous improvement techniques to drive development of production.
Performs all tasks assigned acting like a team leader, coordinator, coach and mentor to the team of production shift leaders and operators.
Ensures the continuity and safety of operation in the area of production, by:
a) Managing and developing a directly subordinate team
b) Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, quality, cost reduction
c) Compliance with the established forms of horizontal and vertical communication
As a member of a dynamic team, is responsible for the production KPI’s and good knowledge of the shopfloor performance. He responds directly to Site Manager from whom he receives Goals and KPIs.
Roles & Responsibilities
1. Ensure the execution of the production program in compliance with all Law requirements, local regulations, company policies and OE standards..
2. Comply with all safety requirements resulting in ZERO Safety violations. Initiation of Safety related activities such as safety talks, Safety Walks, Behavioral Based Safety events and Operation Clean Sweep events.
3. Work closely with production team to ensure all members of the manufacturing team are aware of OE Safety policies to provide a safe workplace.
4. Support the implementation and improvement of policies, procedures and their programs including training, in collaboration with HSE department and Prod/Process Engineer.
5. Maintain and support a superior safety and housekeeping program.
6. Make feasible the implementation of predictive and preventive maintenance to assure an optimum plant reliability.
7. Verify the status of the machineries and requests maintenance checks to provide a safe workplace.
8. Actively collaborate with maintenance department for the preparation of work permissions.
9. Actively collaborate with the planning department to ensure an efficient production program optimizing the sequence of production schedule.
10. Collaboration with the laboratory to assurance high quality control of the products.
11. Ensure the minimization of waste products and optimize production timeline.
12. Manage production’s data in ERP system (SAP).
13. Ensure the correct use of safety devices both for internals and externals.
14. Maintain employee training records and update when necessary in collaboration with shift leaders.
15. Conduct frequent performance assessment and provide coaching, guidance and trainings for development to all operations employees.
16. Organizing and conducting daily meetings regarding current orders, organizing and conducting monthly meetings to discuss the team's results
17. Monitoring and reporting of production indicators (KPIs).
18. Presenting and discussing production results at requested meetings.
19. Ensure the correct and timely data collection for issuing production reports (daily, weekly and monthly).
20. Monitor and improve production yields to determine trends and individuate areas for improvement to optimize process efficiency.
21. Coordinate the team and carefully delegate authority to secure an active participation in plant management.
22. Communicate and cooperate with other departments, such as: Financial department to establish budgets, HR department to hire new workers and assess actual personnel, Maintenance, Labs, HSE, Logistics department to ensure the delivery of products and efficient Warehouse Layout and accessibility, etc.
23. Develops and performs safety assessments and training to ensure corporate and regulatory compliance.
24. Participation to site audits.
25. Back-up of the Production Manager activities in CPC department (Custom Performance Color – Masterbatches).
26. Performs all the duties/tasks in compliance with general and specific health/safety/environment/quality procedures and all LyondellBasell procedures/policies (including Code of Ethics of Conduct, use of PPE, HSE procedures, OCS and BBS).
27. Ensures that all above procedures and policies are correctly performed by employees, and external visitors, companies or guests.
Min. Qualifications
Education work experience and skills:
• Min. Bachelor’s degree in production technology/engineering, or equal consolidated experience in the role.
• Min 5 years of experience in a similar position, managing production team.
• Proven experience in overall production process control.
• Highly effective cross functional team management (Teamwork, Communication, Collaboration, Analytical Thinking and Problem Solving).
• The person in this position will be expected to continually develop professionally and provide guidance and mentoring to those with less production, safety and health experience.
• Ability to direct, coach and train associates as well as plan, monitor and schedule work.
• Ability to analyze and resolve problems.
• Good command of MS Office software (Word, Excel, .
• SAP experience.
• Ability to organize, plan and coordinate work.
• Clear and logical communicator, good listener, fast learner, professional and able to deal with the pressure of time and stress resistance.
• Highly motivated, professional and reliable.
• Strong Decision-making skills.
• High work ethic and diligence.
Languages:
• Fluent in English and Italian, both written and spoken.
Licenses & Certifications:
• Internal auditor ISO 9001 certification is recommended (not mandatory).
